I hadn't heard a word from either of the boys since that day a few weeks ago.
I found it so very funny (not actually) that they just had to show up on the exact same day as each other and disappear without a trace.
I sighed to myself, cuddled under the covers.
Everything felt to overwhelming, but incredibly numb at the same time.
I would have moments where I felt energized and ready to get on with the day, lots of motivation flowing through me, and the next I'd feel like I was right back where I started- depressed and unenergized.
It annoyed me how those two harbingers could throw me into such a pit of emotions, how they controlled my mood so easily.
It wasn't fair.
I thought back to the night Thoma had brought me back home...
Flashback...
After swooping me up in his arms, and whisking us home, Thoma had done everything he could that night to make sure I was comfortable.
He'd even swaddled me in a blanket and made my favorite soup.
Archons bless his soul; he was so good to me.
I remembered staring at the ground a lot, distracted from my current surroundings and feeling- overall very lost.
I was confused, I was sad- and to make matters worse I was cold as hell, shivering from the freezing rain.
-
Thoma sat down in front of me, crisscross applesauce, and reached over to dry my hair with a towel. He was very gentle, and soft, moving his hands as if it would make me feel worse to be shrouded with aggressive movements.
He gently tugged on my roots, being sure to get as much of the dampness out as possible before retreating the towel into his lap with a sigh.
He bit at the inside of his cheek nervously.
Did I make him upset?
I felt my stomach drop at the thought that I was being too much of a burden upon him.
He looked up at me with his sad emerald eyes. "Y/n... what happened? You've been acting strange all week- and now I catch you staring at the ground in the pouring down rain? What's going on?" His voice sounded weak, like he'd been stressing over me for some time now and was on the verge of breaking because of it.
I swallowed harshly and continued to stare at the ground.
I didn't know what to say- what to do in this situation.
"Please talk to me."
I pursed my lips together carefully, before slowly meeting his worrisome gaze.
"I'm sorry," I murmured to the air.
It was as if his heart had broken even more, his eyebrows scrunched into an upward form and his eyes turning down with sadness. "I'm not upset with you; I'm just worried about you," he mustered with a strained voice.
Without a second thought, Thoma reached over and embraced me in a thoughtful hug. "Please know that I won't judge you or chastise you. You're my best friend Y/n, and I'd do anything for you."
Swaddled in a big fuzzy blanket, I didn't quite have the luxury of hugging him back, so to show my acknowledgement, I placed my chin on his shoulder and leaned into his embrace. "Thank you," I whispered gratefully. "Thank you for always being by my side. I'm sorry I've been such a pain."
