Aether spent his day recovering in my room while Thoma filled me in on the details.

Apparently, they had been eavesdropping on a group of plotting fatui, and too their dismay, had been caught by said fatui.

Though, the most interesting part to hear was the fact the fatui were planning on stealing the electro archons gnosis. Tonight.

Well, that's just fucking great.

-

"Listen Y/n, I know it's going to be dangerous, but we can't let the electro archons gnosis fall into fatui hands. We have no clue what they're planning, and this could get a lot of people hurt."

"How the hell are WE supposed to steal the gnosis before they do? Aether most definitely isn't coming which only leaves us two against- oh I don't know, possibly hundreds of fatui, guards and samurai?!" I threw my arms into the air melodramatically, "It's just not happening Thoma."

"I get it, but we have to try Y/n, we don't understand what all could be at stake here."

"Thoma, we aren't going. End of conversation."

"No! This is not the end of our conversation." Thoma licked his cheek with irritation and threw his own hands into the air. "Our HOME could be at stake, our LIFE as we know it could be pulled from beneath us! Our everything is at stake here!"

"The Raiden Shogun will take care of it, she's-"

"You know better than I do that she won't do what's right."

Thoma stared at me intensely, a brief span of awkward tension setting over us.

If we were to go and get caught by the fatui, we would die. If we were to go and get caught by the samurai, we would die. Oh! And- if we were to get caught by the Raiden shogun, we would also die!

What was this stupid boy thinking?! There's two of us and a whole ARMY of them. We are vastly outnumbered here and all he cares about is-

My own thoughts subsided momentarily.

All he cares about is the safety of his people. The safety of me and Ayaka and everyone else that he cares for.

Damn. This was quite the predicament.

On the one hand, the things he was saying was making sense, but on the other hand, I couldn't just stand by and let him walk into something that would get him killed.

Looking to Thoma's features, I sighed defeatedly.

I knew his intentions were good. So were mine. But this could be a fate worse than death if we were to get caught, and things were likely to go horribly wrong. I couldn't have Thomas death weighing in on my conscience, especially if I could prevent it.

I scrunched my brows together with a stubborn frown. "We need more than just us for this fight. And we would need a completely fool proof plan Thoma."

Thoma brightened at my menial submission, "I know a few people who can help." He suddenly jolted away from me and grabbed the nearest pen and paper, clearing way on the counter and motioning for me to join him. "And I've already got a plan in mind."

7 hours later...

After laying out a rough plan, Thoma had disappeared into town, leaving me to take care of Aether and clean up the sharp edges of our plan.

He insisted he knew a few people that would be more than happy to join our cause, but I wasn't buying it.

No one in this town knew how to fight, and even if they did, they all kept to themselves and their families. Which was a fair thing to do, especially since Inazuma was at such a low point.
