Knuckles sat on the Olive Garden bench, watching as Sonic smiled down at his phone. What kind of a mess had he gotten himself into? He just had to tell Sonic that he and Shadow were together, but at the same time, it would break him. Knuckles was, in a sense, breaking bro code. Or was Sonic?

Sonic finally put his phone down and stared at Knuckles. "So, big man boss man Knuckie. Would you rather get eaten by sharks every day for the rest of your life every time you sweat or get swooped at by pterodactyls every time you felt cold?" The hedgehog asked, casually making one of the napkins into a swan shape.

Knuckles tapped his non-existent fingers while thinking about the utterly stupid question he was just asked. "Probably pterodactyls cause you never said they land a blow." He said, colouring in the maze that came with Tails' kid's menu.

Sonic snorted and quickly became the Lenny face emoji. "They land a what?" He asked slyly before breaking into a fit of hysterical laughter while violently smacking his knee.

"Oh, hehe I get it" Knuckles giggled, soon turning into full belly laughter where he started banging his large fist on the table in humour.

Sonic wiped away a singular fake tear and turned to Tails. "What about you, little buddy?" he asked. The fox didn't seem to hear him, his vision fixed onto his crusty iPad.

When Sonic saw what was on the tablet, he sighed in disappointment and the exhaustion from dealing with his iPad kid little brother was etched into his face. "Stop watching Dream videos. We're in an Olive Garden for crying out loud!" He groaned.

The fox turned back and glared at him. "Sonic, I will watch my Minecraft manhunts whenever, and wherever. It's not a phase, it's a lifestyle." The poor child said before turning back to his iPad with a goofy-ass grin on his face. Sonic dragged a hand down his face. "at least it's not Cocomelon" he muttered mostly to himself.

Tails' phone lit up blasting never gonna give you up and the fox grabbed it greedily. Knuckles glanced back at the waiter with his now braided hair as he sobbed relentlessly while still pouring cheese on Tails' plate. Knuckles then remembered that Sonic was texting his boyfriend. Knuckles froze slightly, realizing he had to message Shadow about this.

(Knuckles): did you text sonic???

(Shadow): yes, he gave me his number. I was just checking to see if it was the right one.

Knuckles frowned at his phone. Shadow was acting pretty sus. Normally he used more random capitalization. Was Knuckles getting cheated on? Tails put his phone away and immediately screamed "That's enough cheese!" He yelled, slapping the grater out of the man's hand. The waiter sighed in relief and passed out.

Knuckles cracked his namesakes and turned to look at Sonic. "So, Sonic. How do you feel about this Shadow guy exactly?" He asked, dipping his hands into the bowl of miso soup he didn't order.

Sonic blushed and grinned like an idiot. "I mean- I've hardly even talked to the guy, but like he's so cool and stuff. He had good answers to my questions! Like I asked him what his optimal superpower would be and he said something super obscure! I should've written it down or something. And like he-"

Sonic said, Knuckles losing focus halfway through, drawing his finger along the rim of a fat glass of oil-coated napkin. Tails started shooting off shots of tequila. Knuckles narrowed his eyes for a mere moment. Wow, Sonic really seemed to like Shadow. Knuckles knew that Sonic was an extremely stubborn person and would just absolutely refuse to let this crush go. Once Sonic liked someone, it seemed to stick around for a while.

Knuckles couldn't help but feel like his relationship was being threatened. Shadow also seemed incredibly interested in the other hedgehog. Oh, there was no way in hell Knuckles was gonna let his relationship get destroyed by his ex. Well, technically he and Sonic weren't necessarily exes, they just happened to get married once when partying too hard in Vegas, they got divorced about three months later.
