"Hey, wanna go to that park?" she asked him.
"Why not? I got an iced drink, so it's not like I'll be burning up."
"And you finally dropped that musty jacket."
"It wasn't that bad! It just.. started getting hot outside and I didn't wanna ditch it."
"I guess I can't say anything because I wear two shirts."
"Yeah, goofball!"
Their friendly "argument" persisted until they arrived at the park, which wasn't very far away. They rode on the swings until they finished their drinks. Annie actually remembered to let Garcello have some of her Monster this time. They tried to play tag, but Annie was just too quick for Garcello to keep up. They then played more simple games, like a goofy game of Ninja. They eventually got tired, and sat on a grassy hill looking at the dusk sky.
Garcello saw it as a chance to tell her before they got to his house again, but couldn't make the words leave his mouth. Annie wanted to say something too, but the words felt stuck on her mind.
"It feels awkwardly tense." Garcello stated flatly.
"It does. Umm.." Annie hummed.
"I wanna say something." they both said at the same time, then laughing a little.
"Jinx!" Annie called, with a light in her eyes.
"I already bought you a monster today!" Garcello said, laughing slightly.
"Ughh, you get away this time."
"So what did you wanna say, Ann?"
"No, no, you tell me first."
"But you probably had your idea before me."
"Nah, you definitely did."
"How about we say it at the same time, like those stupid movie clichés?" Garcello suggested.
"I mean.. it would work.. I think."
"Alright then."
Their statements, turned into a garble of talking, were two awkward confessions of love, which left them sitting up awkwardly.
"You're joking." Annie said, a smirk on her lips.
"No, you are!" Garcello jokingly "fought."
"But.. you're serious?" Annie asked, her voice going soft.
Garcello reached for her hair, fidgeting with the wavy bit in his hand.
"Why wouldn't I be?" he said, matching the softness of her voice.
Annie pulled herself up a bit more to pull Garcello to a hug. His hands were placed into her hair as they adjusted to comfort. Annie's head was pressed gently to Garcello's chest, and he carefully fidgeted with her black hair.
Annie then looked up at him, and then twisted as his hands left her hair to give him a hug.
"I still don't mind sharing." she joked.
