Scottie's POV

It's been almost a month since I became the guardian of the hunt and I've managed to gain everyone's trust which was actually hard to gain. Artemis and I are close, I'd like to say we're at least friends but it's hard to tell with her. One moment she's laughing and enjoying her time and the next she's stone cold so I end up worried about her and she brushes me aside and it hurts. We haven't had any attacks or hunts other than the one that went after the manticore as of yet, but it's only a matter of time since according to the book every demigod has a smell that attracts monsters and the stronger the demigod the stronger the scent, and the hunt is a big gathering of strong demigods. I've also taken up the role of mother figure, not being a mother just acting like one, to all the youngest of the hunt inadvertently. Though I don't mind since most of them didn't have a mother figure prior to me, I'm just happy to help them in any way that I can. I just don't want to replace anyone in their lives by accident.

I'm cooking dinner for everybody when I smell something strange and it sets off alarms in my head telling me it's not good. I get one of the other hunters to take over cooking and let Phoebe know what I'm smelling and the reaction my instincts are having to it. She then gets the other older hunters on guard and ready in case of an attack. I grab the gloves from my tent and when I come out Phoebe spots them and looks at them approvingly making me smirk in satisfaction.

No sooner did I get to the front than a hellhound broke through the edge of the clearing and it was immediately shot down and turned into dust. We waited for a minute and the other hunters lowered their guard but I still smelled the alarming scent. Just as the other hunters turned around the minotaur chops down a tree in one swing mid-run without pausing in its step. The other hunters froze while I charged. I see behind it at least fifty or more monsters with more still coming out of the woods, but I can tell he's the leader of this group. The minotaur swung its ax at me and I jumped over the ax and punched the minotaur across the face knocking its head to the side and ripping a hole in its cheek with the spikes, but it isn't dead just yet. It swings its own fist upon dropping its ax. I blocked its swing and punched its shoulder, digging the spikes in deep. Its arm dropped to its side unmoving so it tried to punch me with its other arm but I dropped back to the ground before it could hit me and I punched it in the side of its knee with the spikes doing their job and it dropped to its knee. I punched it in the side of the head and it turned into a pile of golden monster dust and left its ax behind. I turn to see a few monsters stunned before three of them start charging at me. I picked up the minotaur's ax and swung it heftily, slicing straight through all three and turning to the rest with the giant ax resting on my shoulder and my eyes glowing red.

All of the monsters flinched back before they started charging at me and ignoring the rest of the hunters much to their surprise. I'm swinging the ax time and again, cleaving through at least three with each swing before it comes to the very last one.

"You won't be able to stop what's coming this time Alpha McCall." The snake lady spat at me and I recognized it as one of Medusa's sisters from the book's description of the gorgons. "Your pack is divided and weak, let's see if you can save the world a third time."

After that an arrow pierced through its eye and I turned to see Artemis with her bow raised and the rest of the hunters standing there with the sun setting behind me, ax still resting on my shoulder.

"Whoa, Scottie looks so cool!" The younger ones cheered while the others, including Artemis, are left dumbfounded.

I walk forward slowly, feeling the fatigue set in but ignoring it. I get to the younger ones and pat their heads softly as I walk by. I get to my tent and go inside where I set my new ax down and take my gloves off. I walked back out and to where I was cooking to see the food was almost done.
