Scottie's POV

After we got into the barracks I went to the bathroom and found a first-aid kit and went back out. I went over to the bed Hazel had sat on and started tending to the cut on her arm softly and gently. When I disinfected it I made sure to take the little pain she would have felt before applying a bandage to it.

"I saw you apply the disinfectant so how come I didn't feel the pain?" She asked confusedly, tilting her head to the side adorably.

"We don't know that answer either cause she won't tell us." Thalia answered. "How are you feeling?"

"Good, considering half of my friends betrayed me." She said sadly.

"I'll rip them apart if you want me to." I said quickly, barely keeping the growl out of my voice.

"No, they aren't worth the trouble you'd get into." She answered, sighing and sounding exhausted.

"Alright, why don't you get some sleep." I said and she nodded.

I went to take care of the first-aid kit but she grabbed hold of my arm and looked afraid.

"Please stay." She asked, and she sounded even more afraid than she looked. "I don't want to be alone."

"I'll take that, you stay with her." Thalia said, dropping my gloves onto the bedside table before taking the first-aid kit from my hands.

"Thank you." I said softly and she nodded her head in return.

Hazel loosened her grip and I gently took my arm from her hand causing her eyes to snap open in fear.

"I'm just taking my ax off my back." I said softly as I did so. "There, now I can lay down."

As soon as I said that I was pulled into the bed by Hazel, but I just accepted it. I laid there and started to hum to her and all of the hunters and before long she passed out along with almost all of the hunters. Thalia was the only other one still awake and she got up and came over.

"Artemis isn't going to have a problem with her being your other mate, I can guarantee it." Thalia said and I smiled gently at her. "Don't you give me that smile, save that for the ones that look to you as a mother." Thalia said quietly, pointing to literally everybody else in the room except herself, myself, and Hazel. "You're really good with some people yet with others you don't seem to understand how to function around them, why is that?"

"I know how to act around the hurting and the hurt because I myself have been in that position, those who've never felt that type of thing I don't know how to act around because I never had a point in my life where I wasn't hurting or hadn't been hurt before." I answered softly. "I wish I knew how to act around them but I don't, and I don't think I ever will."

"I guess that's why you're so good with all the hunters, we've all been hurt in one way or another." Thalia said sadly. "But with you around I can see their pain going away, something I always dreamed about happening but never knew how to make it happen."

"I agree." A voice said behind Thalia, just as quietly as to not wake the hunters or Hazel. "I'm glad they are finally healing at least a little bit."

"It's nice to finally meet you properly Diana." I said to her with a gentle smile.

"You as well guardian." Diana said with a small smile. "I've heard you are an amazing warrior but I see you also take really good care of others."

"I just do my best to help where I'm needed." I answer softly. "Is it alright if you switch with Artemis for a couple minutes or will that have to wait until we're outside of the roman camp?"
