Chapter 2

Once school was over, I headed over to Shadow's house. I knocked on the door, and he opened it. "Hey, Shadow!" I waved. He waved back at me and let me in. Silver was already there, he was eating some popcorn. I waved at him and smiled.

"So, I have an idea. How about we go to that rental store and check out some of the instruments there?" I asked. "That seems like a good idea!"!” He replied. Shadow then came over to where we were sitting. “For once, you have a good idea, Sonic.” He remarked. “So, you guys wanna go to the place right now?” Silver asked.

Me and Shadow nodded our heads, and we started walking to a rental shop. There was a sign on the window that said the shop closes at 9:30 PM. Lucky for us it was 6:15 PM so we had plenty of time to pick out an instrument. 

We went inside the store and were greeted by a familiar face. I didn’t recognize them at first, but I was pretty sure that I would eventually get it soon. We then looked for the instruments that we wanted to play. I ended up finding a cool electric multi-neck guitar, and I gave it a play. It sounded really wonky. You know, despite being somewhat skilled at guitars and stuff, I don’t know how to tune them.

Okay okay before you scream at me saying “SONIC YOU IDIOT! HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW HOW TO TUNE A GUITAR??”, you gotta listen to me for like a few minutes. I have been playing the school’s guitars for about like 5 months. And every single one of them has been automatically tuned for me and the rest of the students. Plus they never taught us how to tune them! So please, be mad at the school system and not me.

Anyways, even though the guitar was horribly out of tune, I still chose this one. Something about this blue electric guitar resonated with me. “Looks like you found your guitar, huh?” A voice called out. I looked next to me and it was the employee. I looked at their name tag and I knew exactly who it was.

“Vector? What are you doing working at a rental store?” I asked. “Just to get some more money to pay the bills, I make more from the Chaotix agency though-” He said. “Damn.” I replied. I didn’t feel like responding to that at the moment. We ended up hearing the sounds of a bass guitar. We also heard the sounds of a drum being beaten to death.

I looked for the source of the sound and it was none other than Silver and Shadow. I can't really judge them because I'm just as bad. "Huh, these aren't that bad." Silver said. "Thanks! I try my best to make sure that they're of the best quality." Vector replied. Shadow’s expression continued to stay neutral

“So, are you guys gonna rent out those instruments or Nah-” Vector asked. All of us nodded our heads, and Vector smiled. “Great! You’re gonna have to pay me 50 dollars every month. So hopefully you all have the money.’ He said.

We then waved goodbye and left with our instruments. I could tell that Shadow was pretty glad that his drum set was portable. Since you know, if it wasn’t portable then he would have a much harder time taking it home.
