What is the meaning of a dream? Normally it has a convenient explanation as everything does in life. It is some kind of image occurring in a person's mind during sleep. But when you think more observant you realize it is not as simple as you think.
I can tell, the reason for it is the brain. Like it was mentioned before, it happens in a person's mind. And let's not forget how deep the psychology is. So much that it makes you absorbed. So easy to fall into.
Dreams can be overwhelming, dreams can be reasonable, and maybe some can be ambitious. To the point that you could feel flying from happiness. And I am pretty much sure everyone can define this feeling. I mean, how many times have you experienced finding something you lost in your dream? Or how many times have you seen that you overcome all problems of yours? It sounds pretty satisfying, right? Amazing let's say so.
So it is some kind of sensation we experience. Just regular stuff we encounter in daily life. Sometimes we don't even bother to remember at all. However, it is better to see dreams when you sleep. Because there are plenty of people in the world who live in their dreams. More clearly, the people who live inside the imagery they created for themselves. And it is a hell of a complicated mission to wake them up.
On the other perspective, there were moments we felt like living in a simulation. Is that because the brain is programmed for one? Or do we really live in one? Who knows?
But still, there are some unpleasant dreams like everyday simulations. That we call nightmares.
Do you have any idea what's the origin of this word?
It says the word itself derives from Middle English. Mare meaning female evil spirit thought to lie upon and suffocate sleepers. On the other side, other cultures have their own versions describing evil spirits, demon creatures that would ride on people's chests while they slept.

Sounds familiar right? However, the condition is actually a medically defined type of sleep disorder. It is a sleep paralysis that makes a temporary inability to move the body during waking or rarely falling asleep. And not surprisingly, this is also related to the brain.
Also, there is a psychological fact that we don't see unknown people in our dreams. That we must have seen them once in our life. Which we probably don't remember. So that means all people around us carry the devil inside just like nightmares?
Though it seems long-lasting, nightmares actually last for seven or eight seconds. Maybe that's the reason we don't remember them pretty often. And somewhere I relate it to people. I mean what on earth makes you hurt more than a human being? You feel stupid the moment you realize that you spent many years for the wrong people. So it literally feels like sad seven seconds to remember it all as an unpleasant flashback.
However, nightmares aren't always so bad. Sometimes it gives you clues to predict something. Or prevent some kind of threat from happening just in time... *************************************** Dream flashback Batman's POV
