Waking up to the sound of laughter was odd, for almost a year it was only silence or snarls from the walkers outside. Aurora slowly opened her eyes as the sound of michonne and carls laughter was a bit loud, She walked slowly to the kitchen to see michonne had made breakfast, Rick was most likely around somewhere or else Carl would be as calmed as he looked she thought to herself "good morning little one"the women said with a slight smile pulling a chair for the younger girl, as Aurora sat she felt..happy...slightly happy, it's like a small family something she really missed. "Are you ok?" Asked Carl as he passed some food to her for them to share since the food was getting limited. Aurora snapped out of her dazed mind and looked at Carl with a smile and a nod "yea, just it feels nice to wake up to laughter..you know" Carl smiled and took a bite of his food before speaking again "Me and michonne are going to look around later wanna come with us ?" "Maybe I'll stay with Rick" she replied "I'm still kinda-" "i know" Carl interrupted he knew she was scared of leaving the only place she found safe all the good and bad memories she experienced in this house since she was 4 years old, but mostly she was scared to see her old friends, teachers,neighbors as the things walking outside...if she saw her mother...she would crumple
A few minutes later Carl and michonne left to find some weapons and possibly food and water since they weren't coming back, her and Carl shared a quick hug before he left, she felt uneasy letting him go. "You've gotten pretty close with Carl huh" said Rick as he sat done next to Aurora who was looking out the window. "I guess, he's like a best friend" she said still focused on Carl and michonne walking in the distance " they'll be ok, trust me." He patted her back softly, suddenly she wasn't tense anymore and sat on the couch nervous for her next words "so..Carl told me he killed a human before..who-" "his mother" Rick didn't need to hear the rest of her sentence he just knew. "She was already dead but he had to shot her so she wouldn't turn... Had to get a baby out" "a baby? You have a daughter" she looked confused but the more she looked into ricks eyes she could see it was hard for him to speak. "Use to have one. " Aurora got up without hesitation and hugged the man tightly. "I Know how it feels." She let go and sat back down on the couch only this time Rick asked questions "what about your family?" He ask cautiously , "my mom was eaten in front of me, and my dad...he was in a car crash." Ricks eyes slightly widened as he looked at her, Rick couldn't say anything he knew she wanted to let out everything off her chest and he was letting her. "He was trying to make it to my soccer game, he was my biggest fan" she chuckled softly "he had flowers and a bear and a letter attached to the flowers, it was my final game of the season." Aurora felt as her heart was being ripped out, it was like she was reliving the moment over and over again. "The letter was about how proud he was of me and how he would go to every single event I ever had. His name was Charles." The both slowly turned to look at each other, they both had been through so much they felt as if everything was against them. But sitting next to each other at this moment, was calming. Rick held her tightly as she quietly sobbed, in this moment Rick knew he would protect this girl at all costs.
A few hours had gone by, Carl and michonne made it back, Rick and Aurora sighed in relief they both got back safe. Carl pulled Aurora to the kitchen for a bit "I have something to show you" he said proudly, the young girl was confused as she looked at the smiling boy in front of her. Suddenly he pulled out a chocolate bar that was still sealed, the look on carls eyes was something that she would remember forever, he had been through so much and a simple chocolate bar made him the happiest boy ever she couldn't help but smile at his excitement, "let's share before michonne notices I stole it" he whispered they both nodded and ate the chocolate bar while the adults in the living room were finding a route to follow, Carl wanted to be apart of the conversation but he knew the closer the time came the more frightened Aurora felt, did she wanna leave or stay, Carl would do anything to make her come with him. His first friend he felt a connection with, Aurora felt the same
"Are you guys ready?" Rick said as he yelled from the living room Carl and Aurora looked at each other and nodded they both walked to the room where the two adults were and nodded "come on before it gets dark "ready" Carl said in whisper "uh. Yea" she wasn't, she didn't know why but she couldn't
All of a sudden a hand grabbed hers and held it tightly when Aurora looked up expecting Carl..it was michonne "we are not leaving you behind" the two boys look at the young girl and nodded towards her. He felt safe with them so she took a deep breath and they continued to walk..
But who would know that right at this moment Aurora would never be the same again..not ever... everything that was about to happen would completely change who she was.
In other words her life was about to get even more fucked up.
Authors note: I seriously hate my writing currently 😭 but this is my first story ever I guess in the future when my writing gets better I definitely will rewrite this <3 if you read this I truly appreciate you❤️❤️
