It had been a few minutes until Carl and Rick stopped hugging each other, it would be a lie if Aurora didn't felt happy in that moment. She wished it was her, her and her father or mother but both.. anyways after a while Rick looked at Aurora with soft and caring eyes something she hasn't seen in a long time "thank you " he smiled softly Aurora was rather confused though "for what? I didn't really do anything " "for keeping Carl and me safe for these past few hours" he replied the ginger just blinked she had never been thanked for doing something so simple Carl was also looking at her with a smile they both looked different than before more happier maybe just a little "no problem " she replied with a smile.
Until a knock echoed through the house only coming from the front door in a panic Rick pushed the girl back with Carl who held his gun looking through the mirror quickly. They all breathed heavily in fear only for Rick to lay back down and laugh..Aurora and Carl looked at each other confused by ricks reaction "its for you Carl" the girl was just as confused as the boy as he slowly walked and opened the door to show a beautiful women with a katana her eyes looked tired but as she saw Carl and Rick her eyes sparkled a bit, she slowly walked in as she was exhausted and shut the door quietly then immediately hugging Carl "who's that" Aurora whispered quietly as she sat next to Rick " A friend" he smiled
Aurora got up and stood behind the tall women when she finished smothering Carl "hi...I'm Aurora ! Nice to meet you " she stuck her hand out as the women turned around a little unsure about her but in the end shook her hand " I'm Michonne" she said with a slight smile "oh your the one Carl talks about a lot ! " suddenly Carl lightly shoved Aurora on for a laugh to slip out. "Ohhh so your always talking about me huh?! "So what" he said with a slight blush of embarrassment
After a while of them coming up with ideas on how to find the rest of their group they decided they would go later tomorrow evening, Aurora was just sitting on the couch listening she didn't know who the group was or if they even wanted her to go, it made her sad, but first everyone separated on sides of the living room to rest since it was dark out, Carl couldn't sleep neither could Aurora..all she thought about is how people she felt close too only in a day or so were already leaving her.. "Cant sleep either" said Carl as he sat next to her quietly "no.. I always have a hard time sleeping." She pulled her knees up to her chest as she looked at the wall silently "why not" for some reason the question shocked her "well I use to sleep with stuffed animals since sleeping alone scares me but now their all covered in blood or dirt so it feels more lonely I guess" in a way Carl Understood her but didn't know how to respond to the girl a silence filled the room but it wasn't uncomfortable more...calming and refreshing
"Don't you think it's crazy we would be in high school right now" spoke Aurora breaking the silence "yea..do you think high school is like all those movies" he replied "damn, I hope so as long as it's nothing like middle school I'm fine with it" She let out a chuckle as she spoke "maybe we should sleep" he said calmly as both kids were feeling sleepy "yea ok" the girl said with a soft smile, but Carl didn't move "Are you not going to sleep" she said I'm a confused tone "no I am , sleeping here next to you so you won't be alone" he said with the most caring and most calming smile she has ever seen, they both laid down , aurora shut her eyes but help something touch her hand as she opened her eyes Carl was holding her hand with his eyes closed getting ready to sleep "so you won't be alone." he said in a tired voice Aurora felt safe. For the first time in months she felt safe and comfortable and not so alone, just then they both fell asleep holding hands. That was the first night Aurora and Carl didn't feel scared or anxious to go to sleep.
Authors note : Something about this chapter makes me happy. Also writing these notes are scary for some reason 😭 I feel like the more I write the better I get and I hope to keep improving so to everyone who keeps reading I really appreciate you❤️❤️
