I just want to say that this wasn't my plan at all whit this one shot, it just turned out this way when I write, I'll probably write more one shots in Paul's POV, and possibly another version of this.
Disclaimer: I'm not Rick Riordan.

Paul's POV:
I was nervous. Today was the day I was going to meet my wonderful girlfriend's son. I had been going out whit her for a while and I really liked her, maybe even loved her! She was so sweet and kind!
I know that if her son and I don't get along she will leave me, there is so much love in her voice and eyes when she talk about him.
A guy whit such a great mother should probably be really nice, but I suspected that wasn't the case, I had heard that he had been kicked out of every singer school he had attended! As a teacher I immediately disliked him, but I had to give him a chance for Sally's sake.

So here I was, standing outside the door of Sally's apartment. I toke a deep breath and knocked.
A part of me had expected Percy to get the door, but when it opened Sally was the one standing in front of me. She was beautiful! She looked really hopeful at first, but a little disappointed to see me. I immediately felt bad, didn't she want me here?
She quickly covered the disappointment up whit a warm smile. "Hi Paul!" She let me in, I complimented her beauty and we sat down on the couch to talk.

"So, wee is Percy?" I asked her. I could see sadness and worry covering her face, but when blinked it was gone. "He... Hasn't come home... Yet." She said, trying to sound upbeat, but I could tell that she was scared. I nodded, understanding that it was a sensitive subject. But inside I judged the kid for making Sally, the sweetest woman in the world and his mother, worry. My conclusion was that he was a part of some sort of gang.
We talked for a bit before we heard the door open. "Percy!" Sally shouted as she raced towards the door. I uncomfortably followed her. When I got around the corner I saw Sally embracing a black haired kid.
When she finally let go of him I finally had a good look at him. He looked like an adult. He was about the average height of a fourteen year old boy- not tall. But that wasn't it. He had a sad look in his eyes. A look that said that he had seen and lost to much.
He looked very muscular, and his eyes were despite, or even because of, the pain beautiful, they had the greenish color of a raging sea. He was wearing a worn out couple of jeans, a torn orange T-shirt and a blue hoodie. I noticed several scars and barely healed wounds on him, he had bloodstains on his shirt and pants and weirdest of all he had a grey streak in his hair- and it looked real! It seemed to go all the way down to the roots, but that shouldn't be possible for a fourteen year old kid, would it?
Sally also noticed the grey streak in his hair. "Percy!" She yelled. "What happened to your hair?" Okay, so the wounds were normal, but not the streak?
"Uh... Mom..." He shot me a worried glance. "Maybe we should talk about this later." He looked at me again as if telling her that it was a story not meant for my ears. "Of course!" She nodded and gave him another hug, which he warmly returned. Huh, at least the kid's got the manors to return a hug from his wonderful mother. "I'm so glad that you made it back!" what, there was a risk he wouldn't? "Now go get changed before dinner." They seemed to completely have forgotten I was here. Until Percy looked at me. He reached out his hand and I shook it. He had a firm grip, but he had barley healed wounds on his palms and fingers, as if he had been holding up something heavy that was barely physically possible for him to carry, so it had sound and inbeded itself in his hands.
"Percy Jackson." He said and smiled warmly at me. "Paul Blofis." I answered. "Nice to meet you." "Same." He replied. He seemed kind. Maybe I had been to harsh in my judgement. "I need to hit the shower, love you mom." He gave Sally a peck on the cheek before leaving us and heading to the bathroom. I had clearly misjudged that kid.

Sally and I had been sitting on the couch talking while Percy was getting ready. It was nice seeing Sally like this- happy and the wrinkles of worry replaced whit an authentic smile.
Fifteen minutes after we'd heard him leaving the bathroom and enter his room he still hadn't come out.

Sally decided to go check on him and I followed. The scene that met my eyes chocked me.
Percy was sitting on the floor whit a towel around his waist- crying. As Sally ran forward to comfort her son I studied him. He had a body that no fourteen year old should have- he had a six pax and his torso was covered in scars.
"What's wrong Percy? What happened to you?" She worried asked him. "It's my fault! It's all my fault!" He told her before losing himself in tears again.
I felt bad for the kid. He clearly wasn't what I had expected him to be and I felt really bad for him. I wanted to help him, but I didn't know how, so I just stood there and watched, paralysed.
"What's your fault sweetheart?" She asked as she combed his hair whit her hand.
"Everything!" He cried out. "Bianca and Zoë died because of me! I should have saved them!" Died?! What was he talking about? "What?!" Sally asked, apparently she was also shocked by this. "I should have taken Bianca's place! I should have done it! But I'm to stupid and to slow! And again whit Zoë! I should never have let her take that risk! And now she's dead!"
I was dumbfounded! This kid had been through so much horror and pain. To me it sounded like he blamed himself for the deaths of his friends even though it wasn't his fault. "Percy..." Sally started, but he cut her of. "And that's not all mom! It was my fault any of this even happened to begin with! If I hadn't been so stupid, trying to go after Dr. Thorn by myself this wouldn't have happened! We probably could have caught up whit him and then we could have attacked according to a plan, then maybe Annabeth wouldn't have been kidnapped and maybe Artemis wouldn't have gone after her on her own! I thought that the others wouldn't make it in time and I wanted to show that I could do it whiteout Thalia's help. Oh gods, Thalia!" I was stunned. This boy had friends that were kidnapped and died and he blamed himself for it even though he seemed to do everything he thought was for the best.
"What happened whit Thalia? Is she still alive?" Sally asked. Percy nodded helplessly. "Yes, she joined Artemis, mom. That means that I am the one, in two years, I'll be the one." He cried. "Unless I die." I was surprised by the ease he had in his voice when he spoke about his one death. "Then it's even worse!" Then Nico will be the one, he's Bianca's baby brother. Gods mom! I promised him that I would get Bianca home safely, but I failed! And when I told him he ran away, after showing me that he is another child of The Big Three! And he is going to die out there, mom! And it will al be my fault!" He kept sobbing and I was once again chocked that this kid at age fourteen cared more about his friends lives than his own.
"Percy..." Sally hugged him tightly and he looked up. His eyes focused on me and went wide. "Paul!" He exclaimed as we wiped his tears. "How long have you been standing there?"
"Uh..." Was my intelligent answer. He took a deep breath before snapping his fingers.
"You didn't hear anything out of the ordinary, in fact, you didn't hear anything at all." I felt a short second of dizziness before blinking and remembering everything as clear as before. "Uh, Percy..." I had no idea what he was doing, did he really think he could brainwash me? "I can't even do that! I'm worthless!" He bursted out and started crying into his mothers shoulder once again. "Thalia would have made it! I wish she had been the one! I'm not strong enough! I'll never be strong enough! And everyone is going to die because of me!" I decided that he had had enough disappointments for a while now. So I made a decision- I was going to play along. "Why am I up here? We were just downstairs..." It tried to put a confused look on my face, and apparently it worked.
"Really?" Percy's head shot up and he studied me. "Yeah, it's weird, I was just downstairs, waiting for you and your mother." Apparently he bought it and he stood back up whit a look of consternation in his eyes. "Go back down stairs! I'll be whit you in a minute." I obliged and so did Sally. As soon as we got out of earshot Sally stopped me. "Thank you." She said. "I know that he didn't make you forget, I can tell when that actually happens, but he needs to think that for now."
I had suspected there to be something fishy going on, but I hadn't thought that she would confess it.
"Percy... He isn't an ordinary kid is he?" I asked her. "No" she shock her head whit a sad expression on her face. "Will I ever learn your secret?" I asked her. She smiled warmly at me. "One day- maybe, but not today." I nodded and followed her into the kitchen.
