A doctor walked in and adked for family of Jorja and Vladymyr Zelenskyy. Manu gave Sergey a quick look but said nothing. Other than "Here Jorja is my daughter and Vova is her husband so my son in law." after saying the words he made a quick note to ask Sergey about it. He also called Vova his son in law earlier.
The doctor shook his hand upon introducing himself. The Dr asked if they can go somewhere more private. Manu said." no whatever you have to say do it here Sergey is Vovas best friend. So he has just as much right to the info as I do. Now talk" Sergey was both impressed and scared by the sudden change in Manu. But let it slide. "the doctor said" We can not find anything wrong with Mr Zelenskyy other than the bruised eye and cheekbone. But yet he appears to be in a coma. His heart stoped beating twice while we were operating on your daughter so did her heart. The shot lucky missed any major organs biggest challenge was repairing it while not harming the fetus. She lost alot of blood and if you combine that with the pregnancy you have some serious anemia problems. But we are positive about the outcome since we have been able to establish a good heart rate for both mom, dad and baby. We will know more in 24 hours but for now they are resting. We will sent someone to call you when we have them setup in the hi care ward."
Manu shook his hand and when he turned his back he became pale. Sergey grabbed onto him to guide him to a chair to sit down. He turned to get a glass of water. He handed it to Manu saying" take a sip it could help make you feel better. You look like he gave you really bad news. Is it a translation issue or did I miss something?"
Manu was silent for a while." Sergey?" Manu said just above a whisper." you called him my son in law earlier. Now the doctor did the same. When did they marry? Was it a war thing?" Sergey laughed until he looked at Manu and realized he was serious." I am sorry I thought you knew. I mean according to Vova they have been married for 3 years now. Only knew eachother a few weeks before they got married. I honestly don't know that you were in the dark about it."
Manu answered by saying "yes it was a moonless night also it seems."
"Manu, why this reaction though it could not be because of the fact they eloped."
"No" Manu answered "it was a combination of the news of the pregnancy, the anemia and the fact that her hart stopped 2x."
"ok, may I ask why it startled you?" Sergey asked.
"When I met Jorji 5 years ago she had lekeumia and refused treatment until I talked her into it. After Chemo, rediation, stemcell transpland, bonemarrow transplant, heart attack, heart transplant, a long road to recovery 3 different doctors told her she wont be able to have children of her own. Now she's pregnant and I just had a information overload. Add in the eloping thing and the war and the shit storm a few months ago and my system just said "Imput error" It was Sergey's turn to laugh now. "I mean it is a lot......To process.... I guess. As Manu sat by my bed a kind nurse asked him if we were friends "yes that also but she's my daughter first and foremost" he answerd proudly.

Manu looked over at the nurse. "and he's in here?" he asked the nurse while touching my upper belly. "no more like here" she said moving his hand down a bit. Manu smiled leaned down and whispered something in French. The nurse smiled and walked out. Manu just sat there staring at the picture with his hand on my belly.
