Nurses stood around Wladimir's bed ushering for the Doctor to come in.

In ran Dr Martins, the nurses immediately spewing out Wladimir's vitals before he even had the chance to ask.

Grabbing the defibrillator one of the nurses had brought in, he began charging it and the machine sound whirred beneath his hands.

"Charging to 200, clear!" He shouted, administering the shock via two large paddles.

Wladimir's heart rate monitor continued its monotonous beep.

"Charging to 260, clear!" The machine whirred again, zapping Wladimir's lifeless form.

"Charged at 260 again, stand clear!" Dr Martins called loudly.

Again shooting electrical currents through Wladimir's body.

The machine continued its tedious beeping, all of the nurses watching it intently for any slight change.

Vitali was no longer able to continue thinking clearly through the sobs that caught in his throat.

Emmanuel kneeled on the floor in front of him and held him closely. He himself not sure what was currently happening, but sure that Vitali needed him.

He tried to stop himself from crying, thinking that Wladimir's body had given up, and that he was no longer with them.

He managed to just about contain his emotions, readily there to support Vitali in his time of need.

Dr Martins sighed. Looking down at the big, wonderfully charming man that laid there, he had no choice. He had to continue, despite the usual protocol in these cases saying that three should be the absolute maximum attempts.

Something was willing him to just try once more, spurring him into action he charged the defibrillator to the maximum recommended 360 joules.

"Charged to 360. Clear!" The nurses seemed shocked, but moved away once again regardless. Despite their own knowledge of what should be done, the Doctor was the one in charge. So they followed, knowingly breaking hospital protocol.

Wladimir's machine came to life once more, his previous still heart rate line now bouncing up and down in rapid incomplete triangles.

"I'm sorry Vitali, Emmanuel , about all the shit I put you through."

Vitali looked shell-shocked, Andrii was apologising, Andrii never apologised. Before he had a chance to even register what he should say in reply, he spoke up again,

"I know you ain't forgiven me yet, and that's cool. I been through a lot of shit since everything, and I'm different now, ya know? I'm not the same. Just gimme a chance to show ya."

Misreading Vitali's open-mouthed glare, thinking that he was about to get yelled at or worse punched, he instantly held his gaze with the floor again.

"Or not, ya know whatever. I can just go if you want."

"I know you've changed." Vitali said. "We all changed."

Andrii looked up at this, hope evident in his eyes.

"I just don't know if you've changed enough. You did some awful shit to us Andrii, to me, to Wladimir, to Vova, to Emmanuel." Gulping lightly, Vitali continued.

"To Jorji." His eyes rested on his brother.

Andrii's eyes followed, taking in the sight of Wladimir made him realise how weak he actually looked. Why take on someone so weak? How fair was that?

"We tried to make you one of us, and you threw it back in our face. Along with several punches." a familiar voice said from the door.

"Vova?" Vitali said looking in that direction.

Vova pulled Vitali to his body for a hug. It still hurt but he was ok with it he needed to comfort his friend.

"We just gotta give you some time. See if you can fit in."Emmanuel said

Andrii looked completely relieved. It had not gone how he had expected it to go, but it was at least a start. A start with little yelling, or getting beaten to a bloody pulp.

"Wladimir, Jesus, he was hurting so badly and we all just ignored him. So fucking fed up of his constant whining, and we just drifted apart. Ignoring him most days. Letting him get drunk, just because at least then he slept. At least we didn't have to listen to him go on. And if we had just talked more. If I had just opened up to him about it all. Told him that I knew how he felt, because I miss Jorji and Vova as well. Missed them with a hole in my chest. Weighed down by guilt because I didn't save them, because I didn't listen to my brother. Because I should have said or done something, something to save Wladimir. To keep him with us. If he hadn't have to save them alone maybe he wouldn't have to go through this. If I had listened to him before, Jorja would still be here and she would have kept Wladimir grounded, she would have kept him here, and Jorji and Vova could hold us all together. Because they are always the glue, my God that sounds stupid, but they are. You can always rely on them, and they know everything about everyone, they know everything about me and they still love me, but I fucked it all up so bad and Jorji's dead, and Wladimir's going to die and everything's fallen apart. Everything had turned to..." Vitali said as one continues rant.

" No, no you listen to me. NONE and I repeat NONE of this is your fault ok. Vitali you have never been anything but a good friend. At times confused, but still a good, loyal friend. Jorji and I love you dearly. I hope you understand that this mess is not your fault. If anything, my mother is responsible. I need you to know and understand that Wladimir is not blaming you. He just acted out, he did not know how to deal with everything and since Jorji is normally the person he talks to, he just spun out of control. And besides I'm sure he will be fine because Jorji is fine. I will ask for them to move us all 3 together if it will make things easier for you and Emmanuel. But please don't take this blame on yourself. Promise me?"

Through tears Vitali nodded and hugged Vova tighter.

"That's it calm down. Why don't you stay here for a min more gain composure then go hug Jorji and maybe take a nap with her? That sound good?" a low rumble from Vitali made him smile and continue." I bet it does yes. Ok now go wash your face and say hi to my wife for me ok?"

Vova pushed Vitali back a bit. Wiped the tears from his face and said "I love you brother."

Vitali smiled. "I love you too brother." he said as he gave him a hug. And walked to the door.

As he was about to walk out he turned and said. "Vova I am glad you are ok"

"I am glad also, now go before I change my mind." Vova said with a sincere smile.

Shortly after Vitali left the room Vova fell to the ground.
Emmanuel was just in time to catch him.

"I'm ok I promise just need to sit down. This was way too long on my feet currently. And it was emotionally draining but I am ok I promise." Vova said gently holding Emmanuels arm around him.

"That's my Vova. Always putting others first. Huh" Emmanuel said placing a kiss on his head and helping him into the chair.

"Yes well character flaw like you point out ever so often. But your Vova is starving can you find me a meal please Manu. And one for Jorji also. Take Andrii with you so he can get coffee." Vova said.

"Yes Mr. President." Emmanuel said with a smile.

Kissing Vova and Wladimir on the head before heading to the door.
