Natalya cursed to herself after yet another failed attempt at a spell. She'd been trying to perform it for weeks, even staying up late nights, but still failed.
Her cousin, Sabrina, softly knocked on the door before entering inside. Natalya uses her magic to shut the book.
"Tally? Are you okay?" Sabrina questioned.
"Tried one of my dad's spells," Natalya replied. She hopped off of her bed, walked over to her bookshelf, and slipped the book in an empty slot. "It didn't work out so well," She sighed.
"What were you trying to do?" Asked Sabrina as she took a seat on an armchair.
"Nothing in particular. Just a difficult one I have yet to master," Natalya replied.
Out of the entire Spellman family, Natalya was the one to always excel in her studies. To be fair, she was taught by the smartest person she's ever known. Her father.
Benjamin always urged his daughter to do her best, but never wanted her to overexert herself. This spell most definitely would.
Natalya uses her magic to bring a notebook to her lap. The book opened by itself and flipped to her desired page.
She wrote the spell over millions of times. She should've mastered it by now. Sabrina hops off the armchair and flops down on Natalya's bed.
"You'll get it someday, Natalya. You're the smartest book witch I know," Sabrina smiled. The older Spellman girl always had faith in her younger cousin.
Natalya closed her notebook, sighing as she uses her powers to put the notebook on her desk.
"Our birthday is coming up. Are you excited to finally turn 16?" Sabrina asked. Natalya responded by putting on a fake smile. When she turns 16, she wouldn't get the same opportunity as Sabrina.
Sabrina would be able to go to the "Academy of Unforeseen Arts" while Natalya would continue to be homeschooled by her father, her aunt Zelda and Hilda, and her cousin Ambrose. Those circumstances weren't entirely her fault though.
Benjamin just wasn't ready to share his daughter with the witch world.
"I have an idea," Natalya smiled. She hopped off of her bed and ran over to her bookshelf in excitement, "I've been practicing this spell for a few days and I wanted to wait until before our birthday to try it."
