the witching hour

𝗔 𝗙𝗘𝗪 𝗗𝗔𝗬𝗦 𝗣𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗘𝗗 since the Spellman girls' failed attempt at a resurrection spell. Sabrina hadn't left her room, only leaving to eat. Natalya became worried about her cousin's well-being.

She missed whenever Sabrina would barge into her room after she came home from school, or whenever they'd sleep in each other's rooms.

On the third day of Natalya being on "magic arrest" as Ambrose would put it, Ben removed the cuff from her wrist, believing that she learned her lesson.

But he was sure to keep an eye on her for a little longer. Everyone, except for Sabrina and Zelda, sat in the kitchen.

Natalya sat beside Ambrose on the table, Ben rummaged through the fridge for milk, and Hilda cooked on the stove. Zelda walks into the kitchen and immediately drops a spoon from her tea cup. She cursed to herself, Hilda looked over her shoulder.

"Someone's having a baby!" Hilda grinned.

"What? What in Satan's name are you talking about, Hilda?" Zelda questioned.

"You know the saying. "If a spoon falls, a baby calls". Probably Lady Blackwood's," Hilda says.

"Kindly spare me of your old wives' tales, Sister."

Yet, it worked for Alcina. A spoon was dropped, and just hours later, Ben teleported to his sisters for their aide. Zelda opens a drawer and fishes for a new spoon for her tea when she looks around the kitchen. Her face contorts with confusion.

"Where is Sabrina? Natalya?" Zelda asks.

"Still in her room, I believe," Natalya sighed.

"Still? It's been days."

"She's still shaken up. Considering what she's been through—."

"—I know exactly what she's been through. Experienced it with you, now I'm doing it with Sabrina," Ben replied. For how long Sabrina's been cooped up in her room, was how long she's been out of school.

Natalya was at the academy a day prior and heard whispers of gossip among the witches and warlocks. Their failed resurrection was all they could talk about.

Some felt sorry for Sabrina, while others ridiculed her.

Hilda held up a small ceramic container which was meant for Sabrina. "Well, I've made her a little balm for her sore heart. I'm gonna take it up to her," Hilda says. But as she turns to leave the kitchen, Zelda quickly snatches the balm from Hilda.

She was going up there to talk to Sabrina herself.

A knock came from the front door. Natalya and Ambrose leave the kitchen to investigate the noise.
