Natalya submerged herself in her work for the academy to be ahead of her classes just like she was at Riverdale High. Benjamin waltzes into the kitchen and pats Brutus's head before walking over to Natalya, and kisses her head.
"You're doing great, Tally," Ben commented.
As soon as Ben took a seat at the head of the table, he heard his niece calling from the front door.
"Aunties? Ambrose? Tals? Uncle Ben?"
Ben got up from his chair and exited the kitchen. Natalya closed the textbook she was reading and followed after her father. Brutus was fed one last piece of biscuit from Hilda before they both joined everyone who had gathered in the foyer.
What Sabrina discovered came with a disgusting, rotten smell. Natalya gagged at the sight of blood and lamb pieces hanging on the front door.
"Can anyone explain why it looks like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre has been nailed to our door?" Sabrina asks.
"Oh, dear," Hilda sighed, snorting, "I'll get some soap and sponges."
"And I'll get a plastic bag to collect the lamb entrails," Ambrose says.
Both Ben and Hilda went back into the direction of the kitchen while Ambrose went down into the embalming room. Sabrina and Natalya met Zelda at the bottom of the stairs.
"It's a message from the Council, Sabrina. It means our family's been selected to participate in this year's Feast of Feasts," Zelda says.
Zelda explained what Feast of Feasts was a few times to Natalya. The young witch even read it a few times in books in her room and she knew enough of the holiday to know she wouldn't enjoy celebrating it.
As Zelda, Natalya, and Sabrina sat at the dining table in the kitchen, Hilda and Benjamin dumped out the dirty soap water, and Ambrose threw away the lamb entrails.
"Feast of Feasts, Sabrina, is one of our coven's holiest holidays. It's similar to mortal Thanksgiving, but—"
"—The menu is slightly different," Ambrose cuts into the conversation. He ruffles Sabrina's hair before taking a seat in front of Zelda.
"It's meant to honor the single greatest sacrifice a witch ever made to save her coven," Zelda continued.
"Praise Sister Freya. May we meet again," Hilda says.
Freya — a queen amongst the witch world. Centuries ago, Freya was amongst the first fourteen witches in the Church of Night to be chased out of Greendale's soil.
