In the embalming room of the Spellman Mortuary, Zelda listens closely to Lady Blackwood's stomach with a stethoscope. Father Blackwood loomed over the women, while Natalya sat on a chair in silence.
"What do you hear? Sister?" Father Blackwood questioned.
Though subtle, Natalya could see an annoyed look on Lady Blackwood's face. Father Blackwood was too distracted by her stomach to even notice his wife's mood.
"There's a heartbeat," Zelda answered after several moments passed. Father Blackwood sighed in relief, Zelda sets her stethoscope to the side.
"How long before we can determine its sex?"
"It's still a bit too early in Lady Blackwood's gestation, but I'll collect a urine sample and see what we can find out."
Faustus pushed Zelda with more questions. Like her blood pressure, and even questioning Zelda's work. Zelda was quick to cut the High Priest off and (kindly) kick him out of the room.
Faustus masked a defeated face with a firm one.
Lady Blackwood reassured her husband. Just before Father Blackwood left the room, he paused at Natalya and gave her a slight nod.
She waited a few seconds after Faustus left to speak. Natalya fetched water for Lady Blackwood to drink. "It's a rather trying time for us," she says as Natalya passes her a cup of water.
"Carrying a Child of Night to term should be the most joyous 13 months in a witch's life," Zelda replied.
"I agree. Except..," Lady Blackwood paused, "two of our children have already been called home by the Dark Lord before their births."
Which made sense as to why he was concerned about their current child. Zelda mixes together ingredients at her potion table while Natalya helps Lady Blackwood fix her shirt to cover her stomach.
Both Zelda and Natalya gave her their condolences. Natalya grabs pillows for Lady Blackwood while listening to the two talk.
"My husband wants a son, Sister Zelda. A male heir."
"Well... we'll know soon enough if it is the Dark Lord's will," Zelda says. She walks over and hands an empty jar to Lady Blackwood.
"I'll go start packing for school," Natalya says.

Natalya could just feel Sabrina's fuming presence in the house as she packed her suitcase for the academy. As she rummaged through her closet, her bedroom door opened and closed.
