Drizzlepaw's POV
Auburnpaw padded next to Drizzlepaw while the group of cats continued to explore the area outside of SkyClan territory.
"I hope someone remembers the way back." Sorrelpaw uttered under her breath.
Wolffang seemed to have good ears as well as a good sense of smell.
"Don't worry, we can follow our scent trail back." he assured her.
Sorrelpaw twitched her whiskers uneasily, "I guess." she mumbled uncertainly.
Wolffang made no reply this time. Drizzlepaw glanced over at Pigeonflame, who knew the outside territory better than any other cat in SkyClan. Sorrelpaw came along because...Drizzlepaw had no idea.
The reason Drizzlepaw came along? He had no idea what the answer to that was either.
"Auburnpaw." Wolffang called.
The orange tom perked his ears and quickly trotted over to where the SkyClan warrior was, leaving Drizzlepaw to think about his deal. He flattened his ears and looked at his paws as the patrol continued along. Maybe he made the wrong choice, it wouldn't be a first.
"Drizzlepaw?"
He looked up to meet the gaze of Sorrelpaw.
"What?" he asked.
Sorrelpaw lashed her tail slightly, "I have an idea, but I don't want to be the one to tell Wolffang." she mumbled.
Drizzlepaw gave her a 'seriously?' look and rolled his eyes, "Fine, what is it?" he asked.
"We should head over to the twolegplace." Sorrelpaw muttered.
Drizzlepaw almost choked on his own spit, "Wait, what?" he whisper-hissed.
Sorrelpaw scowled, "Look, it would be better coming from you than from me."
He snorted slightly, "Yeah, how's that?" he questioned sharply.
Sorrelpaw's tail twitched with irritation, "Can you just do it? I'll explain later, but he's avoiding it. I found a scent that goes towards the twolegplace." she meowed under her breath.
Drizzlepaw was about to object, but she clenched her jaw and shoved him forward. He tripped over his own paws, caught off-guard, and toppled onto Auburnpaw, who had just been talking to Wolffang.
Wolffang stopped talking mid sentence. Pigeonflame was currently staring at them intensely, "Will you two take this seriously?" he hissed.
Drizzlepaw's jaw dropped slightly, ignoring Pigeonflame's comment. Auburnpaw's eyes were widened slightly, then he smiled gingerly before Drizzlepaw shoved himself off and scrambled to his paws. He cleared his throat and avoided Sorrelpaw's gaze, but from the corner of his eye, he could see she was about ready to burst out in laughter.
"Um, can we head over to the twolegplace? I...er-caught a scent that I recognize." Drizzlepaw meowed awkwardly.
Wait, how did Sorrelpaw know if that was a ThunderClan scent? Drizzlepaw narrowed his eyes slightly before looking over at Sorrelpaw.
She quickly looked away when he did.
Auburnpaw, who was currently getting to his paws, meowed, "Actually, I do remember some sort of scent that we past, but you didn't seem to get it so I didn't say anything."
Drizzlepaw could have just dug a hole and buried himself right then and there.
Idiot.
Wolffang didn't seem offended though. The large tom flattened his ears and took a deep breath, "Alright, I guess it would be a good idea to check it out." he muttered.
Drizzlepaw couldn't help but feel curious to why it was such a big deal. Sorrelpaw had a few questions to answer. So, the patrol wasn't going as planned anymore. Wolffang and Pigeonflame were acting exclusive. Drizzlepaw was avoiding Auburnpaw and Sorrelpaw was avoiding Drizzlepaw.
Eventually, when the patrol reached the twolegplace, there was the matter of crossing a thunderpath first.
"Well, this should be fun." Auburnpaw muttered.
He padded up next to Drizzlepaw, who tried to take a step to the side, but Pigeonflame padded up next to him, right next to him. Sorrelpaw stood next to Auburnpaw and Wolffang next to her.
"Okay, on my 'go' we're all going to get across the thunderpath." Wolffang meowed.
Drizzlepaw looked up and down the thunderpath, there didn't seem to be any monsters, but he could hear the faint sound of one or however many in the distance. Any sense of smell would be clogged out from the stench that was the disgusting water.
Wolffang placed his paw on the thunderpath, "Step back!" he called.
Drizzlepaw followed the others when they backed up and from a distance, he spotted a monster roaring towards them. He shut his eyes and his ears flattened at the loud sound. He wasn't ready when Wolffang shouted, "Go!"
The warmth of Pigeonflame and Auburnpaw's flanks left him and his eyes flung open. Drizzlepaw barely could establish a reaction time when the group was half way through the thunderpath.
He flattened his ears and shoved himself forward. As far as he could tell, he didn't think another monster was coming. Though it was hard to tell with the sound of the other monster leaving.
The others reached the other side of the thunderpath. Drizzlepaw glanced back to see if there were any monsters.
None.
Drizzlepaw slowed down slightly once he neared the end and leapt off with ease. He grimaced slightly at the feeling of the gravel from the thunderpath stuck to his paws. He rubbed his paws against the grass to get them off while Wolffang waved his tail.
"Let's continue. Drizzlepaw, you think you can find this scent again?" Wolffang asked.
Drizzlepaw narrowed his eyes as he connected his gaze with Sorrelpaw, "Sure, I guess." he muttered.
