Sarvani's POV-

Things are looking up for me right now. The campus is not as daunting as I thought! I know all the secret shortcuts, so no more tardies. Hillmore has officially become my second home. I've grown to really like it here.

I'm doing pretty well in school too! I have a 4.0 right now, and I actually have a life with friends and clubs I'm a part of.

Although, the life part is... questionable.

There are some things I'm still kinda unsure about. They're like earworms; no matter how much I try and stop thinking about it, I just can't.

It's still the same thing: this frickin' school and its people.

Right now, I need some advice. About everything, honestly. Despite the balance I have, I just need some... help. A lot of help.

Luckily, I have just the people to turn to:

My friends from New York.

It's been a while since I talked to my friends though since I've been studying a lot and trying to adjust to the move and uni. So, I'm glad that I get that chance now. I missed them.

I just have to find a place though because I'm around a lot of people right now.

"Hiii, Vani!" My friend Mai yells through the phone as my other friend Poojitha gives her a scoff. "Girl, chill before you break Sarvani's screen," she reprimands as Mai shakes her head playfully.

"How are you?" one of my other friends Serafina asks eagerly while I find a place to sit. I spot an open study room right in front of me. This is in the Engineering and Research building, so it has a more steampunk look to fit the part. I found out from Vinnie and Vaibhav one time that all the rooms in this building are soundproof too, so this is the perfect place to do all of this.

I walk inside, giving two guys a smile when I notice them staring at me as they walk by. They both grin and one of them says, "good morning." This always happens; people stare, I smile, and then they become friendly and move on. I don't know how to feel; are they weirdos, or was what Naishal said true? That they're a small town school with barely any new students?

Poojitha breaks out into laughter, and I smile as I see her adorable giant grin as she laughs in that distinct tone. Gosh, I really missed talking to these people. It's starting to really hit me that I'm so far from them now. I know we always have FaceTime and technology to still keep in touch, but I know that it would be way better if I were just in their house narrating all of this in person as they reacted to me as if I was the weirdest thing they've ever seen.

"Did you just wink at someone? Who are you, and what happened to the Sarvani that runs away when a guy stares at her?" Poojitha wonders amusingly, and I immediately shake my head.

"She's still there. But the winking thing is new. You know how much I hate people staring at me for no reason. It scares them away," I smirk while locking the door and sitting down.

"But to answer the previous question, I'm good! I can finally go to class without getting lost. What about you guys?" I chirp as I adjust my seat, my attention fully on the phone right now. This place has a bad signal though, so the audio keeps breaking.

Finally, one flaw about this place. I gotta write that down.

"School is good. It's just different without you though," Mai claims with a pout as I give her the same look.

"I know, I miss you guys so much.  But trust me, you'll get used to me not being there soon," I joke as they all shake their heads.

"Of course not, dude. You're literally across the country from most of us," Poojitha responds while I shake my head.
