This morning, Oda headed off to see orphans. He was greeted by the owner of the restaurent who sheltered them then went up to the second floor.
He opened the door and was ambushed by the five kids. They almost were able to pin him down, but he managed to get out form their hold and tie them all up.
"Do you surrender?" The man asked.
The kid in the front yelled. "Not a chance!"
Oda crouched down to his level. "In that case, its time for some mafia style torture." He started tickling the boy, until he gave up and the mafia agent untied them.
"Were going to get you next time for sure." The kids said before Oda left.
He went back down and saw someone sitting next to his previous seat.
Dazai was eating a bowl of curry, his face contorted in pain. He probably ordered a spicy dish.
"How are the kids?" The owner of the restaurent asked.
Oda nodded. "Same as usual."
Dazai out down his spoon, speaking. "Are those the kids from the Ryuzu incident that happened 2 years ago?" He paused, Oda made his way back to his seat. "You're a member of the mafia, but you dont kill anyone. You have no interest in moving up and look after orphans. You're a strange one." Dazai smiled, a small one, but still smiled. "I dont know anyone else in the port mafia like you."
"You're stranger than I am." Oda remarked. "Here, this should cover the kids for the time being." He handed the old man in front of him a check.
"Sure you dont want me to pitch in? You really dont have to do it all yourself." The owner said kindly.
"You already done more than enough. Giving them a place to stay and all. As long as I can eat your curry whenever I want I dont need anything else." As Oda was speaking, Dazai took another bite of his food and winced. The man turned to his colleague. "You come here for that issue?"
"Yeah that's right." Dazai replied. "Ive come to the conclusion that they're an organisation of gifted members form overseas. They were chased by a British groupe named the order of the clock tower. Which prompted them to make their escape from Europe to japan." The suicidal man explained.
Oda turned to look at Dazai. "Why would a groupe like that have gone to the trouble of coming all the way here?"
"It does seem a bit out of their way." Dazai agreed. "Perhaps there was something waiting for them here." He added.
Oda thought about it and there was something he couldn't quite understand. "I suppose thats possible. But there's something thats been bugging me."
Dazai smirked. "You mean how skilled the soldiers were right?" Oda nodded once. "They're all veterans, according to my information, the head of that organisation uses a powerful gift, in order to make them all act as one."
Oda frowned, the puzzle pieces in his head starting to fit. "So thats how he commands them. Is the boss already aware of this information?" He asked.
"I gave him my report.he asked me to develop an angry mimick strategy and see to it that it was implemented. Ive already set up a variety of traps."
"This might be a stupid question, but considering the groupe were dealing with, wouldn't this be a matter for the government." Oda asked, not sure about the threat mimic has over Yokohama.
"You're referring to the ministry of secret affairs department yes?" Dazai wondered, already knowing the answer. "The gifted operations division doesn't technically exist, they rarely get involved."
Oda hesitated. "Then what about Ango?"
"Its fairly certain he was responsible for Leaking the password for the storage unit." Dazai answered, his tone not shifting but his face contorting into something Oda couldn't quite understand.
The man looked around. "Where's Aika?" He asked, just now realizing the girl wasn't with Dazai.
The suicidal mans phone rang. "That's her." He picked. "Its me. I understand." He hung up and turned to Oda. "Seems a mouse sprung one of my traps."
....
Port Mafia accounting facility.Aika was sitting in the accounting office. Dazai told her to go and check it out since it was also Ango's office.
She looked around in his drawers, files, anything to see what she could find.
She ended up getting some information on what Ango has been doing over his years at the port mafia.
When she had all the information she needed she decided to just pick up a book until Dazai would call her asking her to do something.
The girl was startled when Oda walked in. "Oh, hello Aika." He said, siting on a chair near the girl who was sitting on the floor. "What are you doing here?"
She closed the book and motioned to Ango's desk and all the files she had taken out but hadn't put back. "I see, did you find anything useful?"
She nodded. She looked to her hands, hesitating speaking or not.
Oda noticed this, he also noticed that Aika only speaks when given permission or when Dazai asks her. "Can you tell me what you found?" He asked, hoping that was what she needed to be asked.
Aika raised her brows and shuffled closer. "2 years ago, Ango went to Europe on a business trip. The purpose was to meet up with a local stolen car broker."
Oda nodded. "That must be when he decided to become a double agent for them." He let out. He looked up and around the room. "Aika, why did you join the port mafia?" He asked, the girl looked to him with confusion.
"Chuuya said it was the best option for us." She answered.
Oda frowned. "Chuuya Nakahara, he's your brother right?"
The girl hummed. "When we met Dazai on the streets they were looking for my brother, and then a lot of stuff happened and Boss Mori asked us to join. We didn't have any other place to go so we joined. That was almost a year ago i think." She said.
That was the first time Oda had heard the girl speak so much and so freely, it made him smile but also wonder. "Aika, why dont you speak like this? Freely?" He asked cautiously. He didnt want to overstep but he was also curious.
Aika looked down and played with the run he gave her. "Papa use to get mad if I talked or cried, he said that I was only allowed when ask to speak." She said calmly, as if it was a norm in life.
Oda had heard about her father. Obahoru Nakahara, the crime lord and mad scientist with an overhaul ability. He sold bullets and weapons across the country.
"You dont need permission to speak Aika." He said, making the girl look up at him, confused. He continued. "Speaking is how humans communicate, its how we show people were not a threat, how we get points across, even how we tell people our feelings."
Aika was staring at him with these big eyes. "So, I can just... talk?"
Oda nodded. "You dont have to, but if you have something to add, a question, or since you work with Dazai, a snarky comment. You're allowed to say it without being yelled at. Just like you're doing now with me."
"Then can I ask why you dont kill anybody?" She let out, trying to grasp the concept of speaking without permission.
Oda smiled. "Ill tell you one day... alright?"
