Kierans POV

I sit and wonder what the hell my next move is. The decisions I make could potentially harm my woman and child. I need to think coldly and clearly in order to make a safe option for us.

Before I do anything I am very aware that I need to figure out who the hell was behind my wife's first assassination attempt.

I need to locate her father, and I need to get the information from him. Who the fuck helped him gain control over my wife, and who did he contact to ambush us when we were getting my angel back.

I don't believe it was all coincidence and he took the opportunity when it came. He is not fucken smart enough for the damn job. He did not work alone. He is a fucken attorney advisor not a damn tactical man.

I was pulled out of my thoughts as Dominico entered the living room where I was nursing a cold drink.

"How's it feel to know your girl is alive, but you can't just get your hands on her." He had a hint of playfulness in his tone, but as soon as he saw I wasn't in the fucken mood for his jokes he immediately shut the fuck up and schooled his expression.

"What can i do to help boss? I want Emerson and the nephew I've never met to come home as soon as possible."

"I need to know who assisted Duvessa when it came to shooting us down 4 years ago and selling Emerson off like an object."

"He. Did. Not. Work. Alone."

"Even if he didn't work alone Kieran, how do we even go about attaining information like that? Our recourses are fucken tight because we are not in our territory and our best fucken man is MIA."

It is true.
His brother Enzo fell off of the face of the earth when he got married to his woman 4 years ago. He wanted to keep her safe and no one could do anything about it. When that kid put his mind to something there was little anyone could do to sway him.

"I need you to find her father, if you don't give me any results by this time tomorrow it's your ass, you got me?"

"Yes boss." He said in a playful response before pulling out a joint and lighting it.

"What about junior? Does he know you're his father?" He asked as he passed the lit joint my way.

"Nope." The sweet innocent boy has no idea and even though I wanted to scream it from the highest roof top, I know better.

"What about Rebecca? You two are married and I don't think she's ready to renounce her marria-"

"I have an heir, I don't need her. She isn't important now." I took another drag of the joint before passing it back to him.

"She was a means to an end, but now she is of no use to me, I don't want to mention that reptiles name." I got up and straightened out my suit listening to his next words.

"Kieran you don't expect Emerson to just allow you to be married to another woman and have her on the side do you? I mean come on!"

"She deserves more than that and If you think she'll go for it your out of your damn mind! Shit if you think I will allow that-" I quickly got tired of his bitching and shut his ridiculous notions down.

"I did not marry her."

"What?" He was now up out of his chair leaning over the coffee table.

"Yes, under god and the church and all those people inside it may have seemed like we were bound in "holy matrimony", but we were not."
"The contract she signed had a fine print, it stated that her roll was merely for appearances, nothing more."

"It was to shut the damn people that doubted me up. I was never going to give that woman a child, I was never going to touch her. It disappoints me that you think of me to be so stupid, you should know me better, brother."

With my last few words I didn't let Dominico respond to me as I left the room to allow my words to sink in.

That woman was only a pawn, and she knew it. It was her own problem if she was thinking of making herself out to be more important than she actually was.

I stepped outside onto the balcony overlooking the beautiful land that was Guadalajara as I dialed a number and waited patiently for the person on the other end to pick up.

"I told you not to call me,"

"It's a temptation I cannot rid myself of when I am now a click away from hearing your beautiful voice, angel."

"Always the beautiful flattery with you huh?"

"Only for you my love" I heard her exhale tiredly into the phone as I grew worried. Why was she in such distress?

"Are you alright angel?"

"I'm alive." She sounded beat down and drained. I had not heard her voice for 48 hours. I needed Vidalgo to be completely unaware of our knowledge.

"That is not what I asked Em, if he touched you I can get you both out in an hour-" she cut me off with a tired, but genuine giggle.

"Kieran, I promise we are both fine, I've just been seeing patients since 5am and I'm a bit beat."

"I can't help you relax if you need." She didn't respond quickly so I added.

I don't understand why she continues the job considering we will be fleeing Guadalajara as soon as I have everything together. "Quit, baby you don't need to work we'll be leaving when I fin-"

"Hey! Wait no, leaving? I still have yet to have any proof in my hands about these claims you are making and considering trust isn't an easy thing to acknowledge for me now you need to respect that."
I chuckled at her stern tone and not backing down because of the feelings that we share for each other.

"Right, of course, but I'd like to see you, is that possible doc?"

"See me? For what?" I knew if I told her I wanted to see her because I missed her and loved her she would say no.

So, instead I insisted I had details and information that could prove to her that she could trust me. I had no such proof, but I was willing to crush my credibility just to see her.

"Come to my office at 9:50 back door will be open if your are late, I am not risking anything and going home, understand?"

"Yes ma'am, I'll be there." I needed to see her.

"Not a moment after 9:50 Kieran, I mean it."

"See you soon, love."

"Right, be careful, Vidalgo sometimes has men on watch in the shops around the office."

"I Love you Emerson." I didn't expect her to say it back.

"Kieran..." I know she wanted to say it back, it was on the tip of her tongue I could almost hear it.

"Get here safely, I'll be waiting."

With that she hung up.

I glanced at my watch and saw it was 8:10 if I leave now I'd get there at 9 and I'd have 50 minutes to scope the place out.

Perfecto. (Perfect.)
