Lea's POV
Those two boys did not stop annoying the living the hell out of me.
It was lunchtime and I sprinted away from them like my life was dependent on it.
I was casually walking by all the trophy cabinets, and then something caught my eye.
There was a poster that said "Soccer Girls Team Tryouts" and I immediately pulled it out from the board and skimmed through it.
"You play soccer, kid?" A man's voice asked making me look up.
"Well, sir. I did when I was in London." I replied with a little confidence.
"Come try out then. We have spots left. See you on the field, kid." The coach said to me patting my back and walking by.
I remember playing when I was in middle school. I was co-captain surprisingly. And I loved the game. And my father supported me to no end. He was the reason I played football. He came to every single game, he never missed even one. It was the most important thing to him and me. Sports meant everything. But then he left. And I never played after that because it reminded me too much of him. And I had no reason to carry on playing. And this was just my luck.
I walked to the cafeteria deciding whether I should try out or not.
"Hey, where you been?" Jo asked me as I approached the table.
"Just roaming around. I met the football coach. He asked me to try out." I told her stealing a French fry from her tray.
"Soccer by the way. It's called Soccer here." She corrected.
"Yeah yeah whatever." I said not caring.
"So are you signing up?" She asked me while eating.
"Errrr... I'm not sure." I said unsurely.
"Why not? You do play right?" She questioned.
"Well, I used to. Not anymore."
"Why not?"
"Grew out of it, I guess." I said shrugging.
"You should sign up for it. It'll be good." She encouraged.

The day finally ended. And it was time for the tryouts. Well, nearly. I jogged out of the hallway to the entrance of the school and stuffed my earphones into my ears.
Turning up the volume to max, I bobbed my head to Arctic Monkeys while I walked home to grab my things. The tryouts were in two hours, and I had no football equipment to use. Because well I'm pretty sure I outgrew my studs years ago. Realizing that, I dialed Mum's number and waited for her to pick up.
"Hey darling, is everything alright?" She said through the phone.
"Hey maa, yeah everything's fine. Um so, I have these football tryouts today. I was wondering could I borrow some cash and go down the mall to get some equip?" I said biting my lip hoping she would say yes.
