(3rd person pov)

The school festival was just getting closer and closer, as it was on Monday, there wasn't much people could do over the weekend.

    Y/n has finished doing some preparations that were assigned to her. She heads to the cooking classroom where people were practising recipes for the cafe.

    "Hey Saiki! I finished earlier, want me to help?" The girl excitedly asked. To be truthful, Saiki actually didn't want you to help.

    You were mixing the egg mixture while he cut the green onion, noticing his cutting technique was all wrong, you rushed to help.

    "Saiki, your using the wrong technique! Let me help." You said while rushing forward, he was expecting you to just take the knife but instead you put your hands around the hand that he was using to grip the knife.

    You began to move his hand to show him the correct way to cut it. After realizing what you did you were a flustered mess.

    "I-I'm so sorry Saiki! I don't know what I was thinking, I'm sorry!" This hardly bothered. Although he was a bit annoyed that you just grabbed his hand like that, he couldn't help but feel something, it wasn't pain or a certain emotion, it wasn't anything he felt before.

    You hurriedly walked away and walked towards Kaidou to ask wether he wanted some help.

The next day

    The air was crisp, not too cold but not hot either. Just the right weather for sweaters. As you walked to school you could hear the relaxing sound of the leaves under your feet crunching.

    As you arrived you could see the happy face of your best friend, Kokomi. Although it seemed as if it has been a few days since you two were chatting away about some stupid show, you couldn't shake the feeling that you two were growing apart.

    Shaking it off you greet her in your usual manner. "Kokomi! Goodmorning, did you see the new episode of [show] yesterday?" You asked her. "Yeah! It was so good." She responded. You completely forgot about what you were thinking about earlier.

    As you entered the classroom you were greeted by the sound of everyone talking excitedly about the school festival. "I'm so excited, the dresses look so cute!" "I can't wait to see Teruhashi in a maid outfit." "I hope the food taste good."

    You, on the other hand was thinking about Saturday. You couldn't stop thinking about the cooking incident that happened. 'Did I just make things even more awkward between us?' You couldn't help but think about all the things that could go wrong.

    Little did you know that a certain someone was listening in on your thoughts. 'Good grief, she makes it seem more awkward then it actually is. It's just a group study. Nothing more, nothing less.'

    Class couldn't have been anymore boring. The teacher was just droning on about something that you already read in the textbook. You stared at the fall scenery through the window, you didn't even notice class had ended.

    "Y/n, are you still alive?" You could hear a voice saying. "Huh?" You whipped your head around just to see Kaidou, along with Nendou and Saiki was already walking away.

    "Yeah, sorry. I didn't notice class had ended." You respond. "I could tell. Anyways, want to eat lunch with us?" Kaidou asked. "Sure! Let me tell Kokomi first." You got up from your chair and walked over to the crowd that was surrounding your friend.

    After shoving through the crowd and getting pushed around, you finally made it to the centre where Kokomi was. "Hey Kokomi, I'm going to eat with Kaidou and his friends. I hope thats okay with you." Kokomi wanted to ask if she could also come but kept getting talked over. Instead she just nodded.

    You walked back to Kaidou and the three of you ran to the cafeteria to catch up with Saiki. After catching up with him you all said hello to Saiki and went to get your food. After sitting down with your food in front of you, Kaidou started a conversation. "Sooo... Saiki your going to the library with Y/n on Saturday, right?" Kaidou asked.

    "Yup! Too bad you guys aren't able to join us, though maybe next time you guys will be free!" You responded having no clear idea where the conversation was going.

    "Runt means to ask you two if your going on a date." Nendou stated bluntly. "Oh. Well of course not! We're just friends studying together. Nothing more and nothing less!" You responded with your best "I'm trying my best not to punch you" tone. Kaidou just pretended to focused on his food.

    The rest of lunch was very awkward as nobody said anything after that. This mat have seemed awkward to you and Kaidou, but this was just how saiki liked it.

    Saturday

    (Y/n's pov)

    Phone? Check. Wallet? Check. Do I look okay? .... Check..? "Y/n are you still in front of the mirror? Saiki will be here any moment. You look fine!" You heard your mom shout from downstairs.

    I have no idea why I am so nervous and worried about how I looked. Saiki was just a friend and us two are just going to go study and go to a café. Nothing crazy. I heard the door bell ring and took one last look at the mirror and headed down.

    I almost had a heart attack as I saw Saiki sitting in our living room as my mom was showing him my baby pictures. "Mom! We have to get going, stop showing him those." I tried to grab the photo book where she kept all those horrible and embarrassing pictures but missed.

    I grabbed Saiki's arm and pulled him off the sofa and made a run for the door. I quickly slipped on my shoes and headed outside. Saiki was right behind me. "So Saiki... Sorry about that, she usually does that to everyone who comes to our house."
It's fine. He responded and we started walking

    Once again, I talked and he listened the whole way to the library. I talked about how cool the library is and how big it is, I talked to him about my favourite ice creams and candies. I'm surprised his ears didn't fall off from how much I talked.

    As we arrived in front of the library I looked at it in astonishment. I've been here about a thousand times, (okay maybe not that many but you get the point.) and yet I'm still shocked from how big it is.

    We head inside and I grab the books we needed to study out of my bag, he does the same. We just sit there in silence and i decided that I was tired of that. I grab my [headphones/earbuds] and connect them to my phone.

    Saiki looked up at me after I started a song. Then I remembered that he could probably hear the music due to my [headphones/earbuds] being as shitty as they were. "Sorry. Is the music bothering you? I can turn it off if you want." I asked him. He just shook his head.

    After a good 2 hours, I decided that it was enough studying and that I was hungry. "Saiki, do you want to head to the café now?" I asked him as I started to gather my things. He nodded his head and gave me a look that looked like "lead the way" so I just started walking.

    As we arrived we sat down. It was a small café which made it feel extremely cozy. Me and Saiki sat across from eachother. The waitress handed us menus and almost immediately Saiki ordered coffee jelly. I obviously needed more time but I didn't want to make the waitress wait so I just said "I'll have the same thing." And that was that.

    Now that the waitress was gone, we just sat across from each other awkwardly. And I wanted to start a conversation. "So Saiki-" I started. Kusuo. He said. "What do you mean?" I asked confused to what he was saying. Call me Kusuo. He said, more clear this time.

    "In that case, call me Y/n." I said smiling. And the rest was history- just kidding. The rest was just as awkward as I almost choked to death after inhaling the jelly.
