                                                     ~•Poe's P.O.V•~

I hear the clunking of boots and I raise my head, briefly meeting Leia's gaze. Rey made a short appearance a while ago, during which she locked both Leia and I in a cell. It was only for a few moments, but both had been filled with a heavy silence, her emotions radiating from her like a storm. The whole time it had been as if she were restraining herself. That is why, when I heard the footsteps I assumed it was Rey, finally coming to explain herself, or maybe it's just some stormtroopers bringing food. Not that it would make a difference, I wouldn't eat anything they offered me.

However, it wasn't Rey, nor was it a stormtrooper. Instead it was General Hux and a Knight of Ren.

My attention was caught by something they're carrying, or rather, someone. The realization hits me and I jump to my feet as the cell door slides open. The two unceremoniously drop a bloodied Ben Solo to the ground and step back, blocking the door. "Who are you?" I asked, taking a threatening step toward the knight.

"What did you do to him?" Leia whispered, crouching next to her son.

"My name is Xenia, I'm a Knight of Ren. Around here I'm known as the Red Knight."

"Yeah, I can see that!" I snapped, my gaze flickering to Ben.

Xenia tensed as if she were about to hit me, but stopped. "Your Poe Dameron, I've heard all about you. You better be careful, we don't tolerate disrespect well." With that, the Knight turned and sauntered away.

Hux however, had something to say. "Poe Dameron," he said, his voice low. "You're going to wish you died alongside the rest of those Resistance fools."

My hand curls into a fist and it takes all my self-control not to do something....well, something I'd normally do.

Hux turned on his heel and left, his laughter seeming to echo even after the door closed.

"Ben, can you hear me?"

I turn at the sound of Leia's voice and freeze. The Resistance leader is fairly calm despite her son being beaten to the extent that he has, but there's a look in her eye, something I can barely comprehend.

There have been plenty of times in my life where someone I cared about was in pain, and of course during those times a part of me wished I was the one hurting instead of them, but the longing in Leia's gaze is so deep I feel my heart soften a little.

Sure I don't like Ben, in fact he's probably getting exactly what he deserves, but Leia's gaze makes my anger dissolve a little, so I lean down next to them and study the damage.

Ben's body is littered with cuts and bruises, mostly likely the work of The Red Knight, as she calls herself. For a moment I'm confused, since the most known use of torture is electrocution, then again Xenia seems to be sadistic enough not to care.

Ben's shirt is torn, revealing deep cuts and gashes, while dark-painful bruises are forming on any exposed skin.

Luckily, he didn't appear to be bleeding heavily. His loss of consciousness was likely due to the pain.

"He...he's strong." I state, looking over at Leia. "He'll be okay."

The princess gives me a watery smile and gently touches my shoulder in an appreciative gesture.

The moment is broken when the door slides open again, revealing Hux and Xenia once more. "What do you two want?" I spat, my voice filled with loathing.

"Figured you might want to see one of your little friends." Hux sneered.

Xenia stepped forward and shoved Finn into the cell, the former stormtrooper crashing into my side.

Finn gives a groan, his expression tight with pain. I quickly turn my attention to him and begin inspecting his wounds. Dried blood coats his forehead, but other than that he appears to be okay.

It looks as if the Red Knight didn't use her usual methods on him.

"Finn, buddy, you okay?" I asked, helping him into a sitting position.

"Yes." he answered, his voice strained. "Have--have you guys talked to Rey?"

I hesitate. "Um, sort of."

There was a moment of silence, which was eventually broken by Finn asking, "Do you think she's really gone?"

"I don't even know if that really is Rey at this point." I state, my voice laced with bitterness.

Noticing Finn's expression I add in a joking tone, "Maybe it's an evil clone or something."

He doesn't laugh, but I see the sides of his mouth twitch, forming a ghost of a smile.

After a while, we help Ben onto the only cot, deciding that since he's the most injured it's only fair. Leia perches next to him protectively, while Finn sits in the corner, his expression distant, almost blank. Meanwhile, I pace the cell, my mind whirling. How could this have gone so horribly wrong, and because of Rey of all people?

After what feels like an eternity the lights dim. Not a lot, but just faintly.

It must be for the sleep-cycle. I realize. It's been a day, a full day since everything has happened. Suddenly, the reality of everything sinks in and it feels almost like I'm drowning. After all these years, after so much blood and tears have been shed, this is it. The Final Order has won.

A shudder runs down my spine, my knees suddenly weak. I brace myself against the wall, desperately trying to keep the room from spinning. I'm breathing, but it feels like no matter how much I breathe I can't get enough air.

"Poe?" Finn's voice sounds oddly distorted and I close my eyes against the spinning. "Hey, Poe." a hand grabs my shoulder. "Calm down."

I can't, he doesn't understand. I can't breathe.

"Poe." her voice is somehow clear and it cuts through the panic, bringing me back to reality.

I open my eyes and find that Leia is standing there. Leia, who's lost family and friends, who's been fighting the same war for years, who's lost so much; and she is standing there, her head held high, her figure poised and regal. She has all the grace of a queen.

"It will be okay." she says, and for a moment I almost believe her.

Hey Guys I know it's been a hot minute I'm so sorry school and life got to me but I'm planning on doing a lot more updates!!!
