"Who is she?" I asked Rebecca who is showing me a photo of what looked like a portrait of a celebrity.
"The roommate I was talking about," She replied.
"Wow, she is... Not bad," I stammered as I find the perfect phrase to complete my statement.
"Not bad is not really a compliment," Rebecca said.
"Ok, it looks like the image of British women," I said.
"What are you insinuating."
"That Jpegs of women are always not bad."
"Whose picture is that?" John asked as he turn back to see the picture.
He collected Rebecca's phone and look at the picture only to find it amusing, he laughed hard as he gave the phone back to her.
"She would find him boring, it's definitely a NO for her," He said as he give Rebecca her phone.
"Stop!" Rebecca said. "But he is pretty interesting to me," She added.
"Ok babe, if you say but he has to bring out the bad guy in him," John said, looking at the mirror in the front seat while Jack was there all along, listening and driving. Rebecca and I were seated in the back seat.
The car was an open-top convertible car like that of a classical-rich high school guy.
"But I like good guys," Rebecca said, trying hard to defend me from John's earlier statement.
"This is college not grade six," John said. "Nobody like good guys," He added.
"But I love good guys," Rebecca replied quickly with a quite upsetting tone.
Just then, I realize why Rebecca wants me at the party.
"I'm not far from being good you know, there is more good in me. I'm pretty good at most things which you can testify about," John said smiling as he turn and rub Rebecca on her lap.
"Let's leave the lonely kid, he will eventually give in," John said readjusting himself as he now sits upright.
"Give in to what?" I asked looking at John who was sitting comfortably.
You love going to parties but not partying, you should have considered staying at home crying," John replied.
"I sincerely would have but I'm just going because of Rebecca..."
Before I could complete my statement, Rebecca quickly move her knee toward mine and then blink her eyes. I quickly decode it as I recall what she told me in the library.
"Rebecca what?" John asked enthusiastically.
"Yeah, because Rebecca's brother is the man of the moment," I said quickly.
I initially thought Jack was a ruby player but he is more a soccer goalkeeper. He joined the university team in his first year. I haven't watched him play tho but due to the praises, he is receiving lately for saving the final penalty which gives us the lead to the final. I am sure he is truly the man of the party.
"Stop already... you guys talk too much," Jack said as he hit the brake when the traffic light turn red.
"Let's go to the '90s," Jack said as he turn the tape on.
You're just too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off of you
You'd be like Heaven to touch
I wanna hold you so much
At long last, love has arrived
And I thank God I'm alive
You're just too good to be true
Can't take my eyes off of youThese lyrics were from Frankie Valli's famous song.
I just took my phone and start playing a video game while we drive to the party.
We got to the party a few minutes later, I stand there like a still rock, there will be no difference between the building and me.
I was still standing trying to blend into the party but this I must say is the wildest party I've ever been to. It becomes worst when Rebecca keeps cajoling me to dance, she is probably trying to make John jealous but if that was the case then she is not trying hard enough because John is already drunk.
I climb the staircase looking for a private spot. Luckily I find a door leading to the balcony.
"Wow finally a quiet place," I say to myself aloud.
"You mean a loner place," a voice suddenly responds from the dark.
"Haha, reveal thyself o ye witch," I said turning in the direction of the voice.
Behold it is this lady, walking toward me like a princess walking down the aisle with everyone watching, her smile is the first thing I noticed, her luminous crystal white teeth and dentition got me mesmerized. The more she come closer I noticed her listless eyelashes of velvet black blinked once slowly. The moonlight must have been made to focus on her sculpted figure. Her curvilinear waist does not surprise me as much as her thin-wafer body. I reckoned her oxblood red fingernails ran through her ebony black hair. Reels of it plunged around her photogenic face. Her impeccable pouting lips are something one can't ignore.
I can spend all chapters describing her beauty but in all, she is filed to perfection.
"What are you doing in this lonely place?" she asked with a soothing voice.
"I could ask you the same question," I replied.
"Just drinking alone," she said as she gulp all the drink in the glass.
"Ok, now back to you."
"Running from the party right," she asked."Hmmm, let's go with that," I said.
"But what will make an Amazonian lady like you be drinking alone," I asked.
"It's complicated," she responded.
"I love complicated," I replied quickly.
"We broke up."
"I'm sorry."
"Don't be, it is a lesson learned."
"What about you," she asked as her eyes gazed at me.
I keep mute as though I didn't hear what she said.
"Here with anyone special?" She asked
"No."
"Who is she?" She asked.
"I don't understand," I replied.
"The unique one you are missing," she said smiling at me who has been moody since.
"There is no one, I'm just emotionally unavailable," I said.
"Waiting for Miss. Right," she said.
"There is no Miss. Right, all are the same," I looked at her as I reply.
"That is a fallacy, you are speaking because someone makes you emotionally damaged."
I grinned a smile as we both kept quiet for a while.
"New here right?" She asked, breaking the silence.
"Yeah, freshman year," I replied.
"I knew it," she said with a dazzling smile.
"Sarah right? Sarah Charles, to be precise?" I asked her.
The immediate shock on her face was poetic, it was a pleasure to see her in such a way. Her pencil-thin eyebrow inclined slightly as she stare at me. Just then I notice her hazy Ever-green eyes which were sparkling with 'joie de vivre'.
"Have we met before," she said still in shock.
No, I'm just good at guessing," my teeth gleamed as I said these words.
"Nice meeting you in person I said giving her a clue of how I know her."
"I should get going," I added as I walked inside.
