Roses are red
Violets are blue
Her name is Rebecca
But you can call her beauty tooIf wishes always come true
Many will wish to be you
If the sky could talk
It will definitely sing for youWho needs a blue sky
When one could just look at your eyes
Who needs the birds
When your voice is sweeter than the bird'sI wish I'm made to love
I would've looked into your eyes
And compel you to be mineHappy birthday Rebecca Morgan.
I sat on the couch in the library waiting for Rebecca to give her this. I stood up and move to the bookshelves in search of a book. If I pick one, I will flip through it as if I'm looking for something, I did this for a while till I lay my hands on Calculus for dummies. I nodded my head and reached for a pen and paper.
Sometimes I wonder if there is a book like Happiness for dummies I would have traded my last penny for it, I so much love the dummies collection. Most of my textbooks, oh PDFs, I do hate hard copies are dummies collections.
Probably, maybe happiness is not for everyone. I think it's created for some people and I guess I'm not on the list.
Most times, I do joke with Uncle Martins that he should have written friendship for dummies, because my dad and he have been the perfect example of what friendship is all about. Sometimes you may wonder if they are blood brothers, but at least they are still brothers, brother-in-law.
Rebecca has just walked into the library, looking around for me, I signal her by raising my hand, and there she is, still looking around, I had to walk up to her.
"Looking for me," I said tapping her on her back.
"Oh! finally..."
"I thought you are not here yet," She said."I'm here for close to..." I said staring at my watch as we both walk back to where I was seated.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"You text me to meet you here," She replied bringing out her phone.
"I was only joking, I've finished the poem," I said with a broad smile
"Oh! I completely forget about it, let me see," She said
"I just text it to you," I replied pointing at her phone
Rebecca stared at her phone for some minutes, reading the poem almost half loud.
"How did you see it? Do you like it?" I asked interrupting her.
"Hmmm," Rebecca said still staring at her phone.
"You asked for it, so?" I said trying to defend myself from her to be criticism.
"I love it," She replied.
"You are really good at this, you should consider joining the poetry club" She added."Ok but I won't, I only write when I see the need to," I said quickly.
"Yes you will, I will help you apply if you don't," She replied as quickly as I did.
"Ok I will think about it," I said trying to end the conversation.
"But really! Is that how you see me," She asked looking at me.
"See you, how?" I asked looking confused.
"In the poem, you wrote about my eyes, voice..."
"I believe that is how everyone that has eyes sees you," I said rolling my eyes trying to act funny.
"So it's no big deal.""Thank you, Khalid, Though I still have a question."
"Please no more questions, I am a bit of a haste, I have a class to attend now."
"I thought it's a poem and one has to understand it," She replied smiling.
"Ok, this will be the last, I'm listening," I said.
"I wish I am made to love, seriously!" She asked with a serious face.
I chuckle, "That is personal."
"Glad you love it, but please don't ask me to write again," I said as I stand up and was about to leave."See you at the party tournament then," She said.
"What party tournament?" I asked as I sit down again.
"The school team is at the finals of the football competition." She replied
"Oh!" I exclaimed.
"So they are organizing a party to celebrate their victory," She added.
"OK, I'm not going," I said with a straight face.
"Can you just be lively for once?" Rebecca said with a more serious face.
"Are you suggesting I'm dead," I said almost aloud.
"No! but come to it, it will be fun."
"That is the more reason I'm not going, I don't want to ruin it."
"C'mon, at least you're a fun hater, not a fun spoiler," She said as she smiled.
"There will be a lot of girls," She added.
"There are many here already," I said whirling my finger around.
"I mean girls in their party dress, you know it is different from the one reading a pile of textbooks" She laughed.
"Why did you want me there," I asked looking serious this time.
"Don't know, just a friend helping a friend to a party," She grinned with a cruel sneer.
"I don't believe you, you do have a hidden motive"
"Ok if you say so, that means you must come to the party to find out," She laughed.
"But don't tell John, I asked you to come," She laughed again.
"I am starting to have a bad feeling about this," I said as we both were silent for a while.
No doubt there were things she is hiding but I guess I have to go to the party to find out. Perhaps, It might make me friendly as my dad usually say and what is the worst that can happen that has not happened before.
"Say something please..." She said staring directly into my eyes.
"Ok I will, you are very impossible to deal with," I said shaking my head.
"Wait till you meet my roommate," She muttered.
"What did you say?" I asked.
"I said, wait till you meet my roommate" She replied louder this time.
"Lower your voice, you know where we are right," I said pointing at the picture on the wall which says -Morrison Library.
I still don't understand I added
"I mean she is the goddess of being impossible to deal with, even I, can't keep up with her," Rebecca said pointing a finger at herself.
"She sounds more of a character," I said smiling, "who is she?"
"Sarah, Sarah Charles."
