"You have got to be kidding me!" I groaned.

I was sharing a room with Elijah Slora, Quinn Bartley, and Xander Chalut. Could my year be any worse?

"What are you doing here?" Elijah asked, after a moment of silence.

"What do you think?" I rolled my eyes, "This is also my apartment. And here are the papers for the whole apartment." I dumped the pile on the counter and began searching for the luggage that would be outside my room.

"Your room is the one on the far right, there is a big window I thought you might like so I put your luggage next to the door, your bag is really small, but heavy, why?" Quinn asked.

"Shadow manipulation, and thanks," I respond quickly and walked into my new room.

I began setting up my room. There was a bed, bench, set of drawers, wardrobe, desk and a chair provided. I re-arranged them so the bend was in front of the window, the desk next to it the bed on the opposite side of the room, with the wardrobe next to the door leading to the bathroom, and drawers facing that. Once I was happy with the layout I began unpacking my stuff. Grey and green pillows, a few fake plants, because I can't keep them alive. Blankets, and duvets, layered on benches and beds. The bathroom set up with a similar color scheme.

The only person I have to speak to in my apartment is Quinn. She joined in the second year and quickly became friends with Elijah and Xander, unaware of the reason we hate each other so much. She was nice to pretty much anyone. The daughter of Demeter, was able to grow, control, and manipulate plants with a snap of her fingers. She loves using daggers in hand-to-hand combat and has great aim when throwing them. She has dark skin, and beautiful dark, long curly hair, which always seems to have braids and flowers in it.

In the first year, we were learning hand-to-hand combat. I had been stressed a lot with learning to control multiple powers. Elijah and Xander were in a trio with me, practicing skills, when they deliberately started annoying me. I managed to annoy them for a whole hour, but eventually, I lost my temper and lashed out, sending a hellfire around them trapping them in. They were trapped in the eternal burning flame for another ten minutes until I had calmed down enough to be able to control and put out the flames.

After that incident, they spread rumors around the school about me being scary and violent, and to stay away from me. However, it annoyed them more, that I didn't mind the loneliness, and that fear could be used to my advantage.

Xander is a son of Athena. He loves to read and is easily one of the most intelligent people in our year. He was against Elijah spreading the rumors, but let him anyway because apparently, I burnt one of his books. The Athena Demigod was great at coming up with plans and battle strategies. I have learned that he doesn't really enjoy fighting, but loves designing weapons perfect for anyone to fight with. He has short cropped, light blonde hair, and never goes anywhere without his sketchbook.

Elijah is a son of Apollo. While hiding in the corner, observing people, I found it a lot more difficult to observe him. I know that he can heal people, and control sunlight, it is said he has a really good singing voice but it is yet to be proved. I have gathered that he is good at archery and likes using spears instead. I think he also uses daggers in hand-to-hand combat, but he has refused to go near me in combat lessons since the incident.

By the time I had finished, decorating my room, it was lunchtime. Quin stuck her head around the door and asked what wanted to order for me. I asked for my favorite meal at school: tomato pasta with extra parmesan, apple juice, and a chocolate chip cookie. A few minutes later I left my room and went to grab my food from the suddenly quiet dining table. I picked up the last box left, presuming it was mine and went to walk back to my room.

"Wait, Alana," Quinn stopped me. "Don't you want to sit with us at the table?"

"No thanks, Quinn. I don't think I am welcome here." I declined.

"Nonsense" She dismissed.

"No, Drewitt's right. She's not welcome here." Elijah told Quinn. "She can go back to her room."

"No Elijah! We all literally live together now. You have to put the petty squabble behind you and grow up!" Quinn yelled, finally losing her temper. She had to put up with Elijah complaining endlessly, while I was unpacking my stuff. I could hear Xander's occasional inputs, but hearing Elijah rant about me allows me to be able to look forward to one thing. Annoying him.

"It was not just a petty squabble, Quinn! You weren't even there! She almost killed Xander and me!" Elijah's golden hair begins to glow, which I have noticed happens when he feels strong emotions - currently anger.

"You deserved it" I muttered under my breath.

Before you could say "Holy Hades!" I was pushed against the wall, hand around my neck, with a glowing angry boy in front of me. "What did you just say?" He demanded.

"Eli! Back up!" Quinn scolds, attempting to walk over to separate us, but Xander held her back.

"I said you deserved it. You had it coming and shouldn't have been annoying me when you know I had a lot more on my plate than you did!"

"We didn't provoke you! You lost control! That's on you, not us! You need to accept the blame for things Amara, you can't just dodge the blame and avoid the consequences. Or did your mother not teach you that when you were younger? Oh, right! The perfect princess just had everything handed to her on a golden platter, while her mother turned insane."

I was furious. No one talks about my mother, no matter how absent she has been in my life. It's horrible when people think you don't struggle because you don't show any stress on the outside.

I shifted over a few inches, my fingertips touching Elijah's shadow. Within a moment his own shadow had grabbed him and held him in a chokehold next to the wall.

"How's that for a person with no control, you dick!"

Elijah stuttered a muffled response, struggling to breathe. I rolled my eyes, and grabbed my bag, containing books, notes, earphones, and my bag of blunt aiming daggers. I walked out the door slamming it, focusing on the shadow releasing Elijah as soon as the door closed.

As I walked away I could hear Quinn scolding a panting Elijah. I smirked to myself.

Elijah - 0. Amara - 1.
