"And somewhere in that heart so frosted

Rises the flame of vengeance and pain

And all it leaves are the ashes

Of the bones that once held the reins

To a world that wasn't a river of taint "

"Jaime." Louis whispers, eyes cast on the land beneath him, and shining a million moons in its grains.

Louis has always read about betrayal, the countless books; evidence, even heard Harry read a bunch in the lifetime they shared, going on about how much it felt like a stab to the back, but now as he sits stiff with the wind dancing, his own words echoing in the wordless night, Seilri's lifeless gaze on him, Louis concludes that betrayal is, indeed, like a stab to the back, but it is also like venom, the ache of it blooming inside of him in rushing seconds.

"B-but Jaime wouldn't. I shan't fall for your trickery! You are nothing but a liar."

"The moment of your silence spoke to me, Your Majesty," Seilri breathes out, voice low. "She told me about that drop of doubt that has fallen in your holy river of trust. Do not fight the truth. You asked for it, I am barely doing my part, and I have nothing to gain by spreading lies anymore."

Louis gulps with flickering eyes, his heart aching. He looks at the moon, the goddess fighting the darkness, and he wishes for nothing but Harry, that somehow, by any miracle that her divinity can bestow upon him, he gets his Harry back. But of course, it is the silence that stays with him, and beside him, Seilri's blue presence.

"Why did you do it then? Why did you... hurt Harry?"

Louis dreads the answer just as much as he yearns for it.

"My culprit was your father, not your omega... or your unborn child. Veraka and I, we had our eyes set on your father, and we were certain of everything that the future held, what his tragic faith held," When she pauses, Louis knows it is for him to allow the words to seep into him, for he knows a breath is the final thing she requires to take. "Until your trusted advisor — then valet — Jaime intervened."

"He was the only one who was aware.." Louis' voice reminds himself in a breathy whisper, his mind as though frozen, heart weeping in betrayal.

"He came with a proposal. Although, it was anything but one. He brought along an outright order, an underlying threat hidden behind his precise words. He had knowledge of everything that had happened between your kind and mine. We were astounded, almost suspecting if he had come under your command, but when he proposed his suggestion, both Veraka and I knew you were not aware of the pact."
