Chapter seven

The military school

Aliya
We gently munched our dinner. It was a quiet and peaceful meal, but it seems like the family is not usually this quiet when dining. They usually chit-chat, but somehow my presence changed today's dining manner. It was a delicious meal, I thought.

"You will be attending school next month, Aliya," Mr. Johnson finally broke the silence. "Which school would you like to attend?" he asked, and I was silent for a while.

"Would you mind attending Josh's school?" Josh was his only son and child, but his wife was pregnant. "Josh attends a private missionary school."

"No, I would prefer a military school," I said.

"A military school?" he queried.

"But elementary learners don't attend military school; it's only meant for middle school and high school," he said.

"I am done with elementary classes," I said.

" Really " that was so quick Mrs. Johnson interrupted

But Aliya , you are too young to be in that school.... It's not a friendly school you know

I still wanna go; I said

Okay, you would go there Mr. Johnson said

Thank you sir, I said and he smiled to me

Eleven years later; I was done with the military school; and was a cadet ....I was yet to be recruited after 5 years of  studies and trainings in the higher institution.

Everyone has received their recruit letter aside a few of us that hasn't; some was posted to another state, some was still within the barracks in Lagos .....

Abass, Mathew and I were discussing....when Mary k. Our third friend came to join us, she announced that she had received her recruit letter

Where? Mathew asked swiftly

Kano...she said

I don see my partner, Mathew gave her an high five

Kano here we go, Mary k . Screamed

Abass where Dem post you? Mary k asked

Not here ooo... Aliya and I haven't receive our letter

Una even dey do couple goals for delay of letter .... Mary k chuckled

I glare at her a chuckle a little bit

We had been friends for long; while in secondary military school Mary k had come to join Mathew and I and when we were in our second year in secondary school Abass joined; his father was also a military man..... Abass had a crush on me ever since even now but I was not interested in him, I mean I like him; but I never put in energy to like him more; Abass will always go wherever I go because he enjoys being around me; it's his confession not my opinion

Few hours letter, the commander called Abass in to also get his recruit letter , I was still waiting when a junior cadet was sent to call me....I went straight to the major general office, I saluted him immediately and he asked me to Sit

He gave me my recruit letter and I opened it , because he urge me to....I was recruited to Abuja , to the senator house as a bodyguard.....did I read the letter wrongly?
Why? Was I a junior cadet ? Why will I be given the lowest position inspite my experience.

"Sir" I said dumbfounded

Mr. Johnson, said you have an assignment to carry out there, it was in his favour

Ok sir, I saluted and left the office

Why would uncle suggest the general recruit me to that useless downgraded place

I called him immediately but his number wasn't going through, I walk out of the major general's block returning back to our block I met Abass he announced where he was recruited to;  I was also recruited to Kano, what about you?

I gave him my recruit letter and he read it

"What"? As a bodyguard....this is indesplicable , why would the general do that?  He queried

He says my uncle had a special assignment ,
I said

Are you sure , you are going to be okay ? he asked

Yes, sure

I will miss you so much Aliya, he said and he hugged me

I broke the news to Mathew and Mary k they were displeased that I was the only one posted to a separate location.

Aliya, that man Alhaji jega; he has the say to the death of your family; he is very influential,there is nothing he would not do to get what he want......I don't have the evidence to proof that he was the one who killed your family, and I tried to source  all the evidence I could during the time of the investigation but all prove abortive, but if you go into his villa; your family case will be re-open and justice must prevail; Mr Johnson stated

Interesting! I am ready to go in there uncle; I will give my all to get all the information I need and make sure I put anyone involved in the murder case of my family.

Good! , Aliya I want to make sure I handle this very case before I retire he said

Don't worry uncle, it won't take long

Josh said he will be coming home ending of this year, Mr Johnson said

Really that will be great oo....our Architect will come and paint the whole Lagos during the season I said and we both laughed

I thought I saw Kayla the last time I was here "where is she"? I asked

She is now a secondary school student, she is in a boarding home

Ohh....I forgot; our baby Kayla is all grown up

And our baby Aliya is all grown ...Mrs Johnson said as she comes in

Aunty ! I run to embrace her

Look at you , Aliya....you are as beautiful as ever

Including you Aunty, you are forever ravishing

Welcome ma, I missed you so dearly...I said

Why are you the one going to the grocery store? I asked

The house help travelled; she will be back during the weekend she said

Don't worry I will be here for a whole week...let me help me you out in the kitchen

Uncle, we will continue our discussion later, I said, and we both went into the kitchen to prepare dinner.
