You were kept, safe and sound
While I was thrown into the open
A white rat, sold for a mere pound
Worthless, an object for testing
Clearly, none of these was your doing
But it was your mere existence
That caused my suffering, my dying
And the coup de grace? You kept your distance
Even when you saw me flailing around
Thrashing in the water
You stood rooted to the ground
Waiting for the slaughter
Does it feel good?
Watching me run out of air
While you are wrapped in that warm fur hood?
This is not a complicated questionnaire
Aw, you don't want to answer me
I'm going to count to three
One
Two
Three
Oh, don't get me wrong
I have never hated you from the start
But that was a long time ago
Have you ever answered my pleas for help?
Where were you when I needed you the most?
You ignored me,
Too afraid of getting hurt, too afraid of losing your comfort.
I don't hate you for what you've done
I hate you for not doing what you could have done.
Your silence was the straw
That broke the camel's back
You are so talkative all the time,
So why stay silent about a crime?
Does it feel divine?
You really are a coward with no spine.
1st poem that I tried to write when I am not feeling any strong emotions, and it turned out better than expected? Had to edit and revise it several times, but I find it rather nice :>
