Mallard then managed to get the rails finished, and he looked at the yards. He decided to help out one last time, and this time, it was not for his ego.

Next morning, Mallard was pushing coaches into place, and trucks into their sightings. When Hurricane and George came, and saw Mallard shunting.

"Mallard, what are you doing here?" asked Hurricane, "Shouldn't you be fixing the tracks?"

"They're fixed," said Mallard.

"Then, why haven't you left?" asked George.

Mallard stopped, and sighed, "I only wanted to help you guys, to expand my ego, and nothing more. But after you taking me in, and hearing about what happened here..... I wanted to repay your kindness without having be famous, or even thanked."

Hurricane and George looked at Mallard, and smiled.

"That was very noble of you Mallard," said Hurricane.

Mallard smiled, "Thank you."

Mallard then put some coaches to the platform, and he actually pushed some engines to help start them up!

Mallard smiled, and didn't expect anything in return. Susie then said, "You are doing good Mallard."

"Thank you Susie," said Mallard.

Just then, some whistles could be heard. From the distance, a large cloud of steam could be seen. The engines all looked carefully at the steam, and watched as it disappeared, to reveal some engines.

"IT'S MALLARD!!!"

The engines cheered, and camera men came, and took pictures of Mallard, asking him questions.

"Were you really lost on the line?/Did you ever get to London?/What happened here?/Did you see the signals?"

"SILENCE!!!" said a familiar voice.

From the crowd, came a very familiar face to Mallard.

"Sir Nigel Gresley?" asked Mallard.

"Yes, it's good to see you again Mallard."

"W-W-What are you all doing here?"

"We're here to bring you back!" said the Peppercorn.

"B-B-But, I don't want to leave."

"What!?/You're the top link of the LNER!!!/YOU CAN'T STAY HERE!!!!/The railway is depending on you!!!!"

Mallard looked at the other engines, and they looked at him.

Susie said, "Thank you for everything."

Mallard smiled, "But I-"

"Come on," said the P2, "We need to get going!! The LMS has been beating our tenders the whole time you were gone!!"

"You should go," said Susie, as she puffed away.

"W-Wait, SUSIE!!"

Mallard was then coupled up to the coaches he came with, and then, the other engines, with great force, pushed him away.

"No, wait! Wait!! WAIT!!!"

Soon, Mallard was out of sight. The B1 stayed behind, and looked to see Scot.

"Hey, are you Scot Corvine?" he asked.

"yeah, why?"

"Thanks for the telegram."

The B1 then followed the other engines, and Susie looked at Scot, and said, "You telegrammed them?"

"It's best for everyone Susie."

"Best for everyone!? Or best for you?"

Susie then headed off, and she just slunk into the sheds.

The other engines then followed suit. Scot looked around, and saw everything that was done. The shunting, the trains at the platform, and all that Mallard had done.

"He said that he wanted to repay our kindness," said Hurricane, "Without having to bloat his ego this time."

Scot was shocked at this. Mallard did this out of selflessness? He then looked at the distance, and sighed. Just then, someone said, "Scotsman!"

Scot turned around, and said, "How did you know it was me?"

"I never forget an engine," said Gresley, "They really miss you. Your brothers, and cousins. Your whole Doncaster family hasn't given up hope that you'd return to them one day."

Scot looked down at his buffers, and then, at Gresley.

"If I'm going to London, I need to look the part."
