Sky: Children of the Light X-Over. The Links are Skykids

Blue held Vios hand as they slid down the wet forest path, rain slowly drenching their capes. This was a place they've never been before. At first startled by the rumbling thunder, they quickly learned that was the least of their worries. The air was cool and smelled like mildew. Blue slipped on a slick piece of root sticking out of the ground, taking the other down with them. Finding his footing, Vio helped Blue up off the mud and quickly ran under shelter from the precipitation.

This was another stone structure, no wider than an 8 feet cube. Scratched pillars on each of the four corners held the heavy stone slab above them. Vio lit the lantern in the center of the structure. From the heat, they could dry off and warm up. From the light, they could recharge. Light is what kept their kind alive after all. Whatever they were. Vio had a vague understanding, but just talking about it made Blues head hurt.

Blue wiped at the mud on his and Vios clothes, the feather like weave of their capes glowed and shimmered in the lamplight. Red and Green had stayed behind to follow a Spirit, an echo of someone in the destroyed past, long before their team had ever existed. From the Spirits, they learned bits and pieces of the ancient civilization. And if the cave art they found at the beach in the beginning of their journey is to be believed, (or if Vio was interpreting it right) they could learn more about what exactly they themselves were.

Vio spoke through the constant sound of drizzle and crouched down, "we should wait here for them, so we can recharge."

Blue turned his head to face him, bouncing his knee anxiously, "In this weather?! Vi, this rain is different, its trying to kill us." he complained

He was right, the more light they lost, the more tired they felt. They've been in contact with water before; puddles, ocean, none of it ever harmed them. But this rain was draining. When Green first stepped out into it, they all freaked out (and kinda panicked) when his light flickered, and Red pulled him back under the roofed gate at the forests entrance. Was it because the water was falling? No that's stupid. Vio watched as rain plinked into a nearby puddle, splashing tiny droplets up and back into itself. The water quality looked... wrong. Like oil almost. Though he could argue it was because of the mud.

Blue was more intuitive than that. He followed his friends eyesight and his face scrunched up. "it even looks poisonous"

"That might be true," Vio played with the though out loud, "That would also explain why all the trees in this forest are dead. Although, it would have had to be raining a long time for an entire forest of trees this big to die." he looked out from under their small sanctuary. The trees were bigger than giants, extending far higher than the heavy clouds that left no gaps.

"How long do you think its been raining here for?" Blue asked tentatively, getting the feeling the answer could be longer than he could comprehend. Vio stayed silent. it was probably for the better.

On the other end of the path, two figures emerged through the rains haze, sporting red and green capes, and some sort of shape above their heads. Blue called them over. "Careful the roots don't make you eat dirt!"

Thankfully, the returning companions did not eat dirt. "Guys! Look what we found!" Red shouted exited, he twirled an umbrella over his and Greens heads, flinging droplets around them.

"Where did you find that?" asked Vio. The umbrella was a deep indigo, bells decorated the rim and reflected the lantern light.

"It was inside an overturned pot," Green explained, "I think it belonged to the Spirit we were following."

Pots were ridiculously common. The ancient peoples must've had endless uses for them. They were in those cave carvings too, piled onto boats, each containing what looked like a star symbol. They had seen a room before filled with pots of varying sizes. Pots that were 10 feet tall to pots that could fit in your hand. So many pots.

"They were really helpful! Though, they kept stopping to look at flowers. I thought we weren't gonna see the end of it! It's scary to lose light." Red began cheerful, then ended his statement in a dreary tone.

"It's quite well preserved for staying in a pot for so long." Vio commented, impressed at the quality and sturdiness. They would be keeping this umbrella for sure.

"As long as it keeps us dry, it's good." Blue was happy to not get wet.

Well, now the problem was traversing the terrain while all four huddled closer than they ever had before, looking like a group of penguins shuffling forward.
