Charlie's POV.
"Get to sleep," I say to her.
She listens to me and within fifteen minutes she's out like a light.
Her messy, almost dirty blonde from the sun, hair is sprawled across her pillow and in her face, I get up and move it away from her face so it won't bother her.
She looks so peaceful when she's sleeping, the way her eyelashes settle and kiss her cheeks, the freckles lightly sprinkled on her nose and cheekbones. I didn't understand why she wore makeup or dressed up, she honestly didn't need to. I like her the way she is without the modifications that makeup and nice clothing adds.
.................
"There's just something about her..."
The fraternity boys looked at me. Ryan stared.
"Since me and Lu broke up I said she was mine." Ryan stepped forward.
"You can't claim a girl." I stared at him.
"I can do whatever the hell I want to," Ryan stepped forward again this time with a punch that hit my jaw. Hard.
Sammie's POV.
It's my birthday, the girls wake me up with a cake and balloons everywhere. I smile, they remembered.
"Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you! Happy birthday dear Sammie, happy birthday to you!" They all sang.
I blew out the candles, I was finally 19.
I had no clue what the sorority had planned but I was informed I was not allowed to have any electronics all day, nor was I allowed to leave my room let alone the house. They told me I would be checked on every hour and then they handed me a buzzer looking thing.
"This is to be used if there is an emergency like you need water or something major, I don't know."
I nodded and then the sisters cleared out of my room. I decided to pass the day away with a nap, it was already around noon since I slept in so late. With the help of some medicine, I'm sure I could sleep until dinner.
I got up and walked over to my bathroom, opening the cabinet and grabbing the sleeping pills we stored there, I took two with some water. I put them back and walked over to my bed then drifted off to be accompanied by my dreams.
.................
The noises coming from downstairs were pounding, on my nightstand there was a dress and a small bag with two pills in it, the note said "take one."
I slipped on the navy blue dress. It was shorter than anything I would normally wear. There were white heels sitting next to the mirror that I figured belonged with the dress. After I did my makeup I picked up the pills and slid them into the drawer only because I didn't know what they were let alone what they did.
I walked through the hall and stood at the edge of the balcony that over viewed the foyer. People. Everywhere.
I started climbing down the stairs when the music stopped.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"
Everyone yelled and since most were drunk the words slurred together making it difficult to comprehend.
A familiar face smiled at me from inside the crowd, Charlie pushed through and when he reached me I could already smell the alcohol mingling with his natural scent. He must've had at least four beers already or a half of a bottle of vodka. I didn't know what was going on but he pulled me closer to the point where we were face to face. His fingers sifted through my messy hair. His eyes were trained on mine.
I could taste the alcohol in this kiss. His arm snaked around my waist, his hand putting pressure on the small of my back. He pulled me closer and closer to the point where I wasn't sure I could go any closer and when I couldn't go any closer he pressed me up against the wall. The taste of the alcohol in his mouth was intoxicating like his lips were my poison. I could taste a hint of blood, he must've gotten a cut on his lip earlier today, I would've asked him how but his tongue was exploring my mouth which may have made it difficult to communicate verbally.
My body sent sparks up and down my spine, his touch made me weak. Everything about the kiss made me go numb. We both pulled apart just far enough so our lips were almost touching but not quite. He looked at me, I could feel him inhale and then exhale against my body, pressing up against me then releasing.
He leaned the slightest bit forward, letting this kiss linger, his lips soft against mine. Nothing could make this moment better than it was right now. I wish I could stay like this forever. Just us.
