⊱Un jour nous serons dans les nuages⊰One day we'll be in the clouds

Thunder shook the hammock I was laying on. My heart jumped and I sprung up in shock before falling off the hammock and onto the cloud. I clutched my chest, struggling to breathe for a moment.
"Wake up, sleeping beauty!"
I looked up to glare at Diligence who was grinning down at me with such an innocent expression. "What gives?! Why are you barging in my place?!"
"To make you work, girlie." He extended a hand that I slapped, but the smile was still plastered on his face. "I've been noticing that you're here in the clouds most of the time instead of carrying out your duties among humans. That can't happen any longer. You should be more responsible, you know?"
I groaned, getting on my feet, but stayed silent, not having the energy to argue. I couldn't argue anyway.
"You can work overtime to make up for it. It won't kill you." He laughed, making me roll my eyes. "Get your head and butt out of the clouds, Anhye."
"Very funny."
After fixing my white skirt and blouse, I kicked his shin before teleporting away from him. I just had to use my powers and numb some people's minds. It wasn't too difficult.
With a heavy sigh, I trodded the stone pavement and let the air fill my lungs. Unlike the vast and free sky full of clouds, the streets on earth were filled with stores and buildings of the dullest colors. A bleak street I was walking down. Still, I kept assuring myself that I wouldn't stay here longer and would go back to lay on the clouds soon.
A scream startled me and a loud thud followed it a few feet away from me. My eyes instantly widened at the sight. Blood circled a body that fell from a tall building. A man stared at it from an open window in utter shock, his mouth agape and shaky hands moving up to cover it. Crowd started forming around the dead man, shouting and cursing, asking what happened. I, on the other hand, stood in silence watching the man inside the building. His eyes darted everywhere, not focusing on anything. His face was turning paler with each second. Lastly, he stumbled backwards, not handling the fact that he just murdered a person because of anger.
I searched the crowd to see if Wrath was there, but nothing red apart from the blood was in sight. Maybe he was busy somewhere else, instigating something like this. With or without him, people were controlled by their fury anyway.
I walked past the commotion. No use crying over spilled milk. I came across so many and I would come across way more. I should be used to it. I kept telling that to myself as I pulled my sleeves.
"What a bleak world," I muttered as my legs moved, wanting to go back to the clouds. I looked up and the sky was terribly gray. A nice day to float around in silence.
I must had spoken too soon. I jumped when someone tapped on my shoulder and I immediately whirled around to come face to face with the red haired man. A loud beam brightened his face but mine dulled a little.
"Hey there," he chimed as I stepped backwards. "Fancy running into you here!"
I hummed, acting a little friendly to acknowledge him, and continued walking away. He jogged behind me to catch up and I rolled my eyes. What was he trying to do now?
"You're really quiet." He chuckled, making my head hurt. "Were you like this when you were human? Just wondering since the others don't seem like that. You know, your fellow... angels? Should I call them angels? It's weird because you're called Heavenly Virtues and-"
"Aren't you busy?"
He was taken aback for a moment but laughed. "Are you dodging my questions? Ooh, a mysterious type? Don't worry, we have all the time in the world now, right? I was just curious about you and-"
"Yes, I was quiet. Don't call me angel. It's Patience. And you're testing mine right now intentionally or unintentionally. What do you want, Wrath?"
"Uh..." He stared back at me, dumbfounded by my bluntness, at a loss of words. "Well..."
"Goodbye then." I saluted and walked away. He didn't follow me after that and I appreciated it. Such a strange person. No, spirit? I didn't even know what we were. I just needed to continue my duties for peace and quiet.
I arrived at a highway that was stuck in traffic. Rows of metal boxes were lined up like crops. As I brushed past them, I watered them with my powers, dulling the drivers' emotions in case of accidents. As long as there were no triggers, the effects were lasting. But who was I kidding? There were triggers everywhere. There were limits to my powers, too.
It was somewhat helpful that Wrath didn't have powers to directly influence someone. That would have been overkill.
"Watch out!"
Before I could turn my head, my body was pulled to the side with something wrapped tightly around my body. A crazy car zoomed past me with no care at all. I looked down to see... arms...?
"Are you...?" The arms dropped and I turned around to see Wrath.
All senses came back and I looked at him with a puzzled look. "You do realize we're not materialized, right?"
His eyes widened and an embarrassed chuckle left him. "Oopsie."
I swallowed a laugh that bubbled up my throat out of nowhere, and threw him a judging look. "Never mind. You must've panicked."
Not giving him a chance to say anything else, I whirled around and walked away. I was expecting him to follow me again and lo and behold, he ran up to me and walked beside me.
"Hey, do you like hamburger and sprite?"
I sighed, trying to think of a way to shoo him.
