"Hey, Temperance..."
The blue haired girl sighed in exasperation. "I told you to call me Bada."
The peach haired girl ignored her complaint and continued, "Do you think I was chosen to be Virtue of Patience for a reason?"
Temperance turned to her in surprise. "Of course. No one was more fitting to be Patience than you, Anhye. Why are you asking that?"
The modest girl hung her head low. "Just a thought. I may be worse than others expect me to be and... I could mess up one day... When that time comes, tomorrow or the day after... you guys might accept me as a failure."
Temperance hugged her sides and placed her head on her shoulder with a pout. "We would never do that. I would never do that. You should know you're fine just the way you are. Messing up won't make you a failure."
"But... I may mess up really bad, Temperance..."
Patience hugged her back and whispered, "Bada, I was happy with you. Don't ever misunderstand."
Temperance jolted up in shock as if she woke up from a nightmare. But that couldn't be. Heavenly Virtues couldn't possibly have dreams. Still, her skin was ridden with goosebumps and her mind was still replaying the conversations she had with Patience. She couldn't realize what she was trying to do. She couldn't save her. All the hints, she was blind to.
Her bony fingers clutched the silky material of her dress hard enough to rip it. She drew a few shallow breaths to calm herself. Blame after blame, she promised to make things right for every Virtue who left her.
She lifted herself up on the shore and gazed at the sea for a while. Waves crashed and splashed against her bare feet as if sensing her turmoil.
"What do you like about the sea?"
She took a deep breath and teleported to earth. Looking up at the university building, she asked herself if what she was doing would help them.
She suddenly made eye contact with the Sin of Pride and the latter broke it, disappearing. He was the only one left of the Deadly Sins. Humility and Temperance had less worries now but Pride was unpredictable. What he wanted was unclear to Temperance.
At that point, she was sure he knew the former Sins of Lust had reincarnated. Why else would she run into him at this university often? The problem was she didn't know if Pride and her had the same intentions when coming here.
"I guess I'll have to approach him in some way," she sighed.
Fin.
