'Sokka, I have no idea, that you still...' Katara tried to say something suitable, but she didn't find the right words.
'We are not here to feel sorry for me. What happened with the chief?' Sokka became serious and asked Kikai again.
'All of you deserve to get an explenation. Chief can't deal with the whole situation mentally, but you already know that. However, his mental issues started earlier. When Yue died, he was totally broken. I saw him going to the shaman, but when I asked about it, he denied. Officially, I don't know who, but someone finally helped him, because about a year after her death, he started to behave relatively normally, he only became very sentimental. He wanted to be a support for every young girl, he was helpful and really supportvie to events organized by these women. He almost agreed to allow women to work in the police and military, but then the situation became unstable: kidnappings and murders began. The chief was friends with many of the victims. He didn't know what was going on, he has been broken since rebelion started.'
'Ok, I see that we can't rely on him. Maybe you can help. Tell me, how many years ago there was the first kidnapping?' Aang asked.
'It was about two years ago.'
'Is there any specific outline of the crimes?'
'Yes, every month after the full moon night a girl between the ages of fifteen and twenty disappears. We find the body in a few days. The cause of death is always a murder. Usually, the victims defend themselves, because we find, for example pieces of skin under their nails. Of course it don't belong to them, unfortunately we cannot ascertain anything else.'
'Why do they go out in those nights, if they know about the danger?' Toph asked.
'They don't. They disapear from their own beds. Families report open windows and broken glass.'
'I hope you have a suspect of those murders... That person isn't invisible' Sokka said. He was nervous.
'There is only one suspect, it's a young woman. One of the witnesses said that he saw her over the victim's body, but it was at the beginning of the whole kidnapping case and no one has seen her since then. Publishing the arrest warrant is everything we can do. The suspect was Yue's best friend. She had reasons to establish the sect. What's more she's a bloodbender. She can use her ability all the time, not only in the full moon like other benders what makes her very dangerous. She's name is Yuki.'
I haven't heard that name for ages. The heart began to beat faster and faster. I started choking and coughing, because I couldn't breathe. Katara tried to help me.
'Sagi! Are you ok? What happened?' she asked.
'I know her' I replied.
Everyone looked at me. They were scared. I knew that they didn't trust me and I realised I should have explain everything. I wondered how I'll tell them about Yuki. I didn't want get too many questions about her.
'I know her, that's true, but not very well. I'm shocked! She was so kind and harmless. I met her when I was sixteen. She was at the same age. She didn't talk about herself a lot. Yuki was mysterious, but I would never thought that she is a murderer. Of course I don't defend her, it's just hard for me to believe that she would did that.' I lied.
'I understand. Now, tell us who was she for you?' Toph asked me.
'Uhm... We spent some time... together.'
'That's not an answer for my question. It's not a problem that you know her. I'm trying to figure out if I can trust you, and you don't seem trustworthy yet. You can put your evasive answers in ...'
'Just answer' Sokka ordered me.
I promised Yuki that I won't never tell anyone about her years ago. I didn't want to break my promise, but I had no other choice.
