Sophie: Hello, Eriol.

Eriol: Forgive me. I didn't mean for you to be...

Sophie: It's okay, honey. I can finally rest now.

Eriol: ... I remember. That's why I did it. I helped you stop suffering. But there was another reason. I... hated you. I didn't think you and Nobu were family. I wanted to be my true family.

Sophie: Then, why are you sad?

Eriol: I guess... Maybe, I didn't want to leave you. I know I wanted my true family back, but now, I realize that you've been treating me like a son either way.

Sophie: ... Then, go on with your life. Please.

Eriol: I will. I promise.

Sophie: Thank you... my son. *Dies*

*Sophie's body begins to dissipate into the air, causing the roof to clear up*

Eriol: ... *Begins to cry*

Douglas: *Approaches Eriol* Bud. *Wraps his arm around Eriol's neck* Is there something I need to hear about?

Eriol: ... *Spots another letter and grabs it* ... On the way back.

*Everyone leaves and goes back the way Douglas and Touya came*

~Sentryville~

The kids, Touya, and Douglas exit the hotel, and meet up with Yukito, Nakaru, and the other officers, and everyone proceeds to leave Sentryville. On the way out, the kids tell their whole story to the adults, who couldn't believe what they're hearing. Meanwhile, Mr. Schultz's body was wrapped up for the Coroner's Office, and no charges were pressed. Amazingly, the monsters begin disappearing from Sentryville and into the fog, allowing everyone to evacuate smoothly. While all of this happens, Eriol reads the letter he grabbed, which happens to be the "other letter".

"My Dearest Adoptive Son,

In my restless dreams, I see that town, Sentryville. You promised to take us there again someday. But you never did. Well, I'm alone there now, in our special place, waiting for you. I'm waiting for you to come see me. But you never showed. So, my wait continues. I'm wrapped in my cocoon of loneliness, ready to become a butterfly the second you appear. I know I've done a terrible, unforgiving thing to you. I wish we could change that. But we can't. I feel so pathetic, laying here, and waiting for you. Every day, I stare at the ceiling, and all I could think about is how unfair it all is. Today, the doctor came to tell me that I could visit you. It's not that I'm getting any better though. It could be my last chance to be a mother to you. Even so, I'm glad to be seeing you. I've missed you terribly. But I'm afraid that you don't want me here, seeing how it's hard on you whenever it's you and me alone. I don't know if you hate, or pity me, or if I disgust you. I am sorry about that. When I first learned that I was going to die, I didn't want to accept it. That's why I lashed out on everyone around me and the ones I loved, including Nobu, including you. That's why I understand your hatred. But no matter what, I will always love you as a son, even if we're not exactly the same. We had some wonderful years together. Once I'm done writing, I'm going to give this to one of the nurses. By the time you read this, I'll be gone. I can't tell you to remember me. But please don't forget me. I am so sorry for what I did to you. To all three of us. You've given Nobu and I so much. And we haven't returned anything. That's why we want you to love yourself now. Do what's best for everyone, honey.

Eriol. You made us happy.

Your beloved adoptive mother, Sophie."

By the time Eriol reaches the end, the group safely makes it to the exit.
