I had spent the time reading all her favourite books or just talking to her. Jay and I were friendly. It had been a week. A whole week since our baby girl was shot somehow. A week of us not leaving the hospital. I still hadn't addressed the baby in my stomach, baby daddy still doesn't know. These uncomfortable chairs were killing my back correction my whole body and I didn't doubt Jay was feeling the same way but we both wouldn't be anywhere else. The routine stretches of our body's every morning relieving the stiffness. Will or April usually brought us breakfast every morning and checked MillieFlorence. Dad usually brought us lunch sticking around for a bit. Then they would trade someone from the district or firehouse would bring us dinner.

I was reading a book in my chair. Jay was looking through case files on the opposite side of her bed. I didn't know if they were current or not we were just in our own world doing our own thing. Suddenly MillieFlorences lips twitch making both of us look at her. She had lots of spasms however it was when she let out a cry we both discarded our reading and jumped to be closer to her. She didn't open her eyes like expected nor did she stop crying. The crying went from whimpers to painful cries. Doctors and nurses rush in, Will to make sure Jay wasn't in the way, he had already tried to fight them once. April was by my side in an instant although she was helping the doctors but also making sure she's ok. "Millie" Dr Rhodes tried to coax her to open her eyes different things were being put into syringes and stabbed into her. "Mummy" she whimpered in a trance. I rush over "I'm here baby I'm here so is daddy and everyone else" I said stroking her head "hurt" she cried before opening her eyes I would cheer and celebrate if there wasn't so much pain in her eyes.

She was awake but delirious. She was so doped up on pain meds it was funny. But she was awake and that's all that mattered. She wasn't really talking, when she did it was just one word much like when she first learnt to talk. She was looking at all her favourite books and doing different puzzles with Jay. Well more like she was doing it and Jay 'trying'. He kept putting the pieces in the wrong place making her giggle. She was so out of it that she was putting the pieces in the wrong place but she would figure it out.

She was getting stronger and stronger.
