The next morning Auden woke to shafts of light coming through the windows, warming her face that was smashed into a soft down comforter. Drool dribbled down the side of her mouth, forming a damp stain on the silk pillowcase she was lying on. But it wasn't her pillowcase. Auden sat up quickly and groggily wiped her mouth with the back of her hand.
"Gross," she said aloud, and she looked around realizing she wasn't in her own bed.
She remembered the bedroom from the time she'd ventured into it to wake up Jimin.
She was in Jimin's bedroom. Lying in his bed.
She low-key started to panic as she remembered the night before, falling asleep on his couch after rescuing the little kitten she'd found on her balcony.
Her eyes took in his things, seeing his closet door was slightly ajar and spotting his clothes hung up neatly on the racks, and his shoes laid out beneath his dress shirts. On the nightstand was a journal and a pen that he must've been writing in. The dresser had a variety of colognes to choose from, and a box which looked to hold jewelry in it. Auden felt odd being inside his space, but another part of her felt sort of fluttery.
Did he carry her to his bed? She didn't remember being moved, but the idea of Jimin holding her close to his chest, and depositing her softly onto his sheets had her insides tumbling.
She suddenly felt the need to escape, not wanting to confront the emotions that were messing with her common sense.
Auden quickly jumped out of his bed, and hurried for the door. When she arrived in the kitchen she found Jimin there, already awake.
She was a little surprised to see him up, and making breakfast already. He was mixing something on the stove, holding the kitten closely to his chest like a little baby.
"You're awake," he said, acting as if they did this every morning. Like it wasn't at all unusual that she had come from his bedroom to find him making breakfast like some domestic house wife.
"I fell asleep on the couch," Auden said, still processing.
"Yes, and I moved you to my bed because I thought you'd be more comfortable," he said, as if it wasn't at all a big deal.
"And where did you sleep?" she asked, feeling awkward asking the question. He wouldn't have slept next to her without her knowledge? Would he?
"I slept on the couch," he assured her. He looked up then, flashing her a smile that at seven in the morning was like getting hit with a bunch of sun rays to the face. It was so bright, so breathtaking, and a little overwhelming for Auden. She had the urge to shield her eyes so she wouldn't get blinded by his beauty.
"How's the kitten?" she asked, feeling a tad bit calmer now knowing that they had slept separate. And she took a seat at the counter, trying to act as normal as possible even though her heart was still beating faster than normal.
"Good, Han brought him some things. And I also called the local shelters already and left them messages, asking them to call if anyone reports a missing Calico."
"Oh good, that's good," Auden said, relieved. She glanced around the living room and sure enough there was a litter box, a cat bed, some cat toys with little feathers on the ends of them, a food bowl and a bag of kitty food. Han had brought the whole pet store it seemed. She looked back to Jimin, and glanced at the kittens leg, noting as well that it was bandaged now too.
"He's been a very sleepy boy. Haven't you?" Jimin cooed at the little kitten that was already falling asleep again in his chest. And Auden had the bizarre feeling that she was sort of jealous of the little kitten's position. But realized almost instantly that, that was a very dumb thing to be feeling towards a helpless little animal and pushed it from her mind.
