I think she's one of us.

Dew's POV

I was relieved Jazz woke up, believe me. I was furious that Bot even thought of doing something so stupid. She was going to kill her before we even found out if she elemented fire. Bot sure did a number on her, too. The bruises on her body caused me to shiver. Even Tornado, who is usually pretty easy going, was giving Bot the silent treatment. I could already tell that there was going to be some bond formed between them. Like a sibling bond, he was going to be protective over her, and I don't know why but this bothered me.

Tornado and I were sitting on the floor outside the door, trying to eavesdrop on them. But blame Tornado because it was his idea. We could hear the faintest of whispers but we couldn't make them out. Tornado had his ear pressed against the door, but it suddenly was yanked open, causing him to tumble. Bot was standing in the doorway, shaking her head disapprovingly at us.

Bot closed the door and whispered,"Shh. Jazzy's sleeping. But we have to talk. She wanted me to tell you."

"What?" I asked.

"Follow me." She motioned her head towards the family room. We got on our feet and walked over to the brown leather couch.

"Did Jazzy forgive you?" Tornado asked. He asked what I had been dying to know. The prophecy said Fire would be hot headed, I didn't think she would forgive easily. But fire and earth sort of went together; you have to burn coal to get an engine moving or something like that. Then again, there were forest fires.

"Yes she did." Bot said, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"I don't know why?" Tornado muttered, but we had all heard it.

Bot's eyes flared. "What did you say?"

"You heard me!" Tornado retorted. His protective side was already showing, "You could have killed her."

"I didn't mean to!" Bot shouted.

"Hey. Knock it off," I said. "She's sleeping. Bot what were you going to tell us?"

"Her story."

"Shouldn't Jazz tell us that for herself?" asked Tornado.

"No, she asked me to tell it. Besides, she shouldn't have to repeat that story. It's too sad." Bot said, her voice trailing off.

"Well?" I urged her.

"Jazz, her life's not been great. She told me that she's been beaten and hurt by her family. She's been dealt a shit card."

"What do you mean?" asked Tornado.

Bot looked at us with this look of sadness in her eyes. A lone tear streamed down her face. "Shit went down."

We sat in silence until I surprised myself by speaking. "Guys I think she's one of us."

"Yeah, I thought so too," Tornado confirmed. "But, how do we tell her this without freaking her out? Do you think she knows?"

"I don't see how she could. She didn't grow up like us. The Fire child was kidnapped when she was only a few days old. She hasn't been trained like us. So, it's a possibility." Bot voiced.

"Let's just let her sleep for now and we can run a few tests tomorrow." I said.

Bot and Tornado agreed and when Tornado walked away, Bot looked at me quizzically. "You know," she said. "If she's the one then she'll lead us to greatness. She'll be the child of the ember."

I nodded. "Yeah, but don't tell her just yet."
