Jazz POV
When I woke up, something felt off. Maybe it was the fact that I wasn't woken up by shouting or a slap to the face. Instead, I woke up to Bot, carrying in a tray filled with a lot of food.
"Morning," she chirped. She had opened the window and sunshine filled the room. Setting the tray of food on my lap, she plopped down on the edge of the bed. "Now eat up! We've got a full day of things to do. And only 4 weeks to do it before the beginn-." Bot stopped her sentence abruptly and averted her eyes.
"Before the what?" I questioned.
"Huh?" Bot tried to feign ignorance.
"You said 'before the beginning.'"
"Oh that!" She shook her head and brown locks covered her eyes. "I meant the beginning of your new life?" Her voice changed an octave, which told me she was lying.
"Are you asking me or telling me?" I said, raising an eyebrow.
Her eyes hardened and all sense of playfulness was gone. "Will you just hurry up and eat your food? We're already about 4 years behind schedule, and I don't wan't to waste anymore time."
"I-"
"There are clothes in the closet- should be your size. Be ready by ten before Lau gets here."
She had left and slammed the door- loudly- before I could even ask who Lau was.
Ten minutes later, I was clean and dressed in a plain black t-shirt, cargo pants, and black shoes. I opened the from my room and peeked my head out. I heard voices from the what I assumed to be the kitchen and headed that way.
The kitchen was yellow. That was what I first noticed. It had a friendly look, but looked relatively untouched. I looked at Bot, Tornado, and Dew who were surrounding a cat. It was beautiful, with stormy gray eyes, and a white streak going through its black fur.
I had alway's loved cats, but I'd never gained the courage to ask for one. I walked up to it timidly and pet its fur. It immediately hissed at me and hopped down from the counter to the stool.
Tornado chuckled, "Sorry, Jaz. Lau doesn't liked to be petted. It makes him feel domesticated."
"Oh, so this is Lau." I cooed. "He's really cute."
"Don't objectify him. He's really wise."
"He's a cat." I said.
They all nodded. "A very wise cat."
"A cat. This is a cat."
"I'm not just a cat, Jazz." A random voice, interjected. I swear I whipped my head around so fast that I got whiplash. All I could see was Lau, perched ontop of his chair, staring at me. His eye's were almost human-like and if I wasn't sane, I'd swear he was the one talking.
"Woah, guy's it almost seemed like Lau said that." I said.
"I did say that," Lau said. "Nice to meet you, Jazz." He raised his paw, almost as if he was shaking my hand. "I'm Lau."
And that, ladies and gentlemen is how I fainted twice in two days.
