Hi, my name is Nina Edwards and this is my story. Except, I didn’t know I was going to be having a story at all. I wasn’t exactly going out of my way to get a story. I just went on a cruise ship, and the story found me there. Actually, my story doesn’t take place on the ship. A nice chunk of it takes place in on a far off land. Literally. You’ll see what I mean.
Okay, okay. I know the story, and you don’t so I should just cut to the chase and tell it to you. So, where was I again? Oh right…the introduction. I guess I should give you a visual representation of myself, huh? I am not what you would call a “bombshell” or anything, but I don’t consider myself hideous. I’m pretty average, I guess. My friends would beg to differ, but I suppose I’m self-conscious.
Anyway, I’m a grand 5 feet and 4 inches tall. Yep, I’m a giant. I have naturally straight, blonde shoulder-length hair. Hmm…I have blue-green eyes and moderately fair skin. I have dimples, which is kind of odd and not really necessary to describe my appearance, but I’m kind of proud of it.
I don’t wear designer clothes or anything like that. My attire is usually just some graphic tee with some jeans. And if I need to get dressed up, I just add some nice flats and I’m good to go. No, I’m kidding, I do dress up when I need to, and I pull it off pretty well too, I guess.
So, now you have a nice little picture of me in your mind. Now I got to catch you up with the whole situation. Well, high school just ended, and what better way to start off the summer before college than with a cruise to Hawaii? We really couldn’t think of anything to top it. Oh yeah, “we” equals my two best friends and I. I guess I should give you the info on them as well. Best friend number 1 is Chelsea. She has naturally straight, bright red hair and side-swept bangs. She has emerald green eyes, and really pale skin…she kind of looks like Ashlee Simpson. She’s the emo one out of the group, but she’s not depressed or anything like that. She just likes wearing black a lot and writes sad poetry/songs. But she’s a pretty happy person, all that aside.
And my other best friend goes by the name of Isabella. She has chestnut brown hair, and it’s pretty wavy. She has bright blue eyes, and tanned-from-the sun skin, so feel free to give her the talk on cancer (I’ve given it to her countless times and it just goes in one ear and out the other). However, despite it all, she looks like a model. She seriously looks like one of the chicks on “Deal or No Deal,” I’m not even joking. I think she most resembles number 5? Ha, I don’t actually know, but she could pass as one of them any day. We are the oddest assortment of people. All of our personalities clash with each other all the time. But we’ve been best friends since we started kindergarten, and we’ve been through practically everything together, so we’re basically more like sisters than best friends.
Now it’s time to set the scene. So me, Chelsea, and Isabella said good-bye to our parents – all our moms were getting teary-eyed and telling us to call every day, while our dads strictly told us to stay out of trouble or we’d be in trouble – and got onto the cruise ship. We were about to set off on a two-week long trip without the parentals. Lucky us. First destination: our cabin…and that is where my story begins.
