"Kirstin!" I called as I jolted awake. I started sobbing and my sides heaved as if I had run a marathon. Kirstin and Scott came rushing into my room. Kirstin instantly pulled me into her as I buried my face in her and continued to cry. Scott's blue eyes were filled with concern and utter fear. He had never seen me have this bad of a nightmare before or be this scared. Kirstin hadn't either but she remained calm. She held me close and gently rocked me.

Kirstin: Shhh. It's okay, Kailyn. I got you now. I'm right here. You're okay, you're okay.

My body continued to shake as I remained in Kirstin's arms. Her voice was calm and comforting and didn't portray any fear or concern even though it was there; she didn't show it.

Kirstin: Take a deep breath, sweetheart, and tell me what's the matter.

I took a very shaky deep breath as I buried my face into Kirstin even more than before. Kirstin's brown eyes immediately filled with concern as they met Scott's fear filled blue eyes.

Kirstin: Whatever is the matter, it must've scared her pretty bad. She's shaking terribly. She's ne-

She stopped when she felt me grab her hair. Kirstin looked down at my trembling body and held me closer in a failed attempt to comfort me. Scott placed his hand on Kirstin's shoulder and mouthed: "I'll let you handle this." Kirstin simply nodded and waited till Scott was out of the room to try again to get me to talk.

Kirstin: Kailyn, I want to help you, but if you don't tell me I can't help you.

In a shaky voice, I told Kirstin my nightmare. Once I'd finished Kirstin remained quiet for a few heartbeats as she held me close. Her brown eyes were filled with fear yet also love and understanding.

Kirstin: It's okay, sweetie. I'm right here. I won't ever leave your side. It was just a terrible nightmare.

Her voice was gentle as she rubbed my back. My body stopped trembling and I relaxed. She squeezed me gently and hummed softly as I slowly fell asleep. Kirstin gently laid my head on my pillow and pulled the covers over me. She was scared that if she left I would have another nightmare so she got under the covers with me and fell asleep herself with her hand on me. Scott softly knocked on the door, but walked in when he heard no response. His worried blue eyes turned to love as he saw that Kirstin and I were both asleep. Scott slowly backed out of the room. Mitch met him in the hallway; his brown eyes filled with concern.

Mitch Grassi: Are they both okay?

Scott: Yeah. They're both asleep now. They look so peaceful.

Mitch: I wonder what's the matter

Scott: When me and Kirstin woke up after hearing Kailyn cry out we both rushed into her room to find her shaking and sobbing.

He stopped as tears started to flow down his cheeks. Mitch, alarmed, encouraged Scott to sit down.

Mitch: Scott, what's wrong?

Scott didn't answer but continued to cry. Mitch was quiet as he watched his troubled friend. He looked up when he heard a noise outside but then ignored it and turned his attention back to Scott. When Scott finally answered his voice was filled with grief.

Scott: It's hard to see Kailyn that way.

Mitch just started at his troubled friend as he remembered seeing me in pain after he took me to the doctor in January when I had a stress fracture. He placed his hand on Scott's shoulder and his voice was gentle with understanding.

Mitch: I understand, Scott. I struggled and still struggle with seeing her in terrible pain.

Scott looked up and his blue eyes met Mitch's brown eyes and when Mitch noticed that he still wasn't understanding, his eyes softened. His voice was low from grief. The memories of what happened during the car ride to the hospital came back to him as he told Scott.
