(inspired by the new era of Gorillaz we are treading into! lots of references to lots of songs. wrote 6 fucking poems listening to Silent Running yesterday lmao)
[2022]
Engines roar past my sides
And it feels like I'm falling in love again
The Song Machine takes over
The Donca Matic is antiquated. It buzzes and creates white light
An irreplaceable new world
The digital won't let me goI think it's time I decide what have I done
Because there's no way out of here
Not that I can see anywayIn the wreckage of the beach I sit up
And look around to watch the clouds
Is my head in the clouds or are the clouds in my head?
You're killing me, you kill the Inc.
And I sleep on needles and walk on eggshells
In a melancholy town still dormant at sunriseSmoking tinfoil in the morning
Drinking the black water of the neon cosmos
With all the plastic eating peopleEvery phase we've been through before the now
The now now, not what we thought was the now then
I never thought we'd be right back where we startedI didn't think I'd be here too long
Fame called and you answered because you'd met it before
But plastic people seem to always walk through meHelicopters scope the land for my silhouette
But I'm in a dream, in a chalk tablet tower high above
They'll never find me, there's no way outI'm bound to disappear up here
I got caught up in nowhere again
The Static Channel takes over
The Song Machine is obsolete.
