Crey woke the next day with a sore on his arm. He then realized he was lying down in a very uncomfortable position.

He sat up, while cursing on himself. It seemed to take him more than a minute to fully sit up.

He looked around his tattered old bedroom and to the window. He dragged himself out of bed and threw open the windows. The sun had already risen and he looked down at the bustling streets.

Under the window, several Royal footmen came rushing with a stretcher. Was any Royal hurt? What was happening?

He tried to prick up his ears to catch bits of talk from his neighbours.

That's how he knew.

The Royal Princess fainted.

Vakysha woke up to a bright light.

She groaned.

" She's awake. "

Couple of heads where looking down at her.

" Where am I? "

She asked, her voice hoarse. She looked at the faces from left to right. She adjusted her eyes and shook her head to wake herself.

Siofra was one of the people who was looking down at her. The plump human-elf's eyes were terrified. She was clutching a wet cloth and was about to wipe it on Vakysha's forehead.

" You're awake. "

" Where am I? " Vakysha repeated once again.

" You're in your room, Highness. " Siofra replied.

" What happened? " Vakysha asked. " All I remember everything went all black. Then there's a swooshing sound. And some hooves. "

The faces who she knew to be her ladies-in-waiting and some footmen looked at each other.

" There was no sound, Highness. You just fainted. "

At this, Vakysha sat so abruptly it made her lightheaded. She looked at them alarmingly.

" I swear! There was a sound. A swooshing sound! I-I just didn't see who it was. "

Before any of the servants could answer, the door opened and Lady Katarina rushed in with six more servants.

Lady Katarina was a tall fair woman with silver hair and violet colored eyes which matched perfectly with her plum colored lipstick She was wearing a lilac colored day gown with a long train. Her hair was in a braided bun. All in all she was magnificent as a goddess.

Her worried eyes searched the room and eventually landed on her daughter who was sitting on her bed. She rushed to her and embraced her.

" Oh, my poor girl! "

" I'm fine, mother. " Vakysha said as her mother let go of her.

" Why have you left the castle? You know how dangerous it is! What if something worse than fainting might happen to you? "

Lady Katarina's hand was shaking as she held Vakysha's shoulders.

" I was just strolling on Rymeria. Then I heard noises— "

" What noises? " Lady Katarina cut her off. She was clearly alarmed and scared.

" I-I don't really know how to describe it but I-I swore, I heard a strange whooshing sound and sound of hooves approaching. "

The Lady of the Castle looked at her daughter in a mixture of confusion, angriness, relief, and worry. She put her palm on her forehead delicately and rubbed it absently.

Lady Katarina turned to Siofra.

" Did you hear the noises my daughter explained? "

Siofra simply shook her head.

" No, Your Greatness. There were no swooshing sound when she fainted. "

Vakysha groaned.

How could no one heard it? How come she fainted hearing that mysterious sound but her own lady-in-waiting did not? Was she hallucinating?

No! She definitely wasn't. But it was there. The swoosh was there.

" Vakysha dear, there was no swooshing sound. Siofra swore it, " Her mother gently placed a bejeweled hand on her daughter's shoulder.

Vakysha opened her mouth to argue but found she was very tired so she closed it again. Instead she stared intently at her mother's eyes which reflected hers.

" But I swore— "

" Get some rest, Vakysha. You're tired, " Her mother said as she kissed the top of her head. Vakysha sighed and nodded instead.

Her mother left the room and ordered every lady-in-waiting in Vakysha's room to leave her in peace so that she could sleep. The servants didn't dawdle and immediately left her bedchamber.

The room was dark. Darker than Vakysha ever knew. Was it evening? How many hours had she blacked out? She sat up and adjusted her eyes in the darkness.

She looked around and saw a tiny shine of moonlight on the floor. She smiled. She was about to get off her bed when she saw something move from the corner of her room.

She hastily turned her head to the direction and looked hard.

Nothing was there.

She proceeded to light a candle but before she could even find the matches, she was staring at two pairs of red eyes.
