Babysitting For A Demon

Chapter 1

"Hi, your home early." Brittany said to the twins mother.

"Yes. I quit my job today." Was her reply, then she added. "You may finish this week out but then your services are no longer needed."

"But I'm under contract for the next month." Brittany argued with her.

"If you want to argue with me you can leave now."

"But....."

"You are fired. Go find a family that needs you. I will put in a good word if you just leave now."

With that said Brittany leaves the house. When she gets back to her apartment building she runs into the landlord in the lobby.

"Hello Brittany, how are you doing today?"

"I'm doing okay. I might be a little short on the rent this month. My sitting job I was doing just got canceled. I am getting ready to go up to my apartment and look for a new one, but I'm not sure I will find one before rent is due."

"That's alright I'm sure I can think of some other way for you to make up your rent." He says while reaching out and playing with her hair.

"No that is quite alright. I will have a new job by that time." She says as she makes her way towards the stairs to go up to her apartment. She goes into her apartment and shuts the door in his face, after she locks it she turns her computer on and looks in the sitters needed posts on the local help wanted site. She starts making phone calls only to be told that the positions have been filled. When she gets to the last post she starts to read it. "Sitter needed. I have recently taken custody of my sisters two kids, a 7 year old boy and a 5 year old girl. Live in position, food is provided along with transportation to get kids to school and home." She picks up the phone and dials the number on the ad.

"Thank you for calling Wolfe's Emporium, how may I direct your call?"

"Yes I am calling to find out if the sitting job is still open."

"Please hold I will see if Mr. Wolfe can take your call." After a few minutes the lady comes back on the line. "Mr. Wolfe said to tell you to bring a resume and come to the office today. He will interview you and let you know."

"Great I will be right there." She says as she hangs up the phone. Then she realizes she has no idea where she is going. "Good thing I have google maps to show me the way."

She prints out a copy of her resume and heads out her door. As she is about to leave the lobby the landlord comes out of one of the apartments by the door. "And where are you off to Brittany?"

"I am going to an interview for a new sitting job." She says as she enters the address of the building she is going to into her phone.

"Well good luck with that."

"Thanks." She replies as she walks out the door of the building. "Dear Goddess, if you would just let me have a bit of luck here. I will do whatever you want me to do from now on." She says as she walks down the sidewalk. After walking for about 20 minutes her phone says she has reached her destination. She looks up and shakes her head. She is at one of the cities best known clubs.

She tries to open the door but it won't budge. "May I help you?" She hears from beside her. She looks on the wall and sees a little speaker box.

"Yes I am here to see Mr. Wolfe about the sitting job."

"I will buzz you in. Once you enter the main entrance have a seat and someone will come and get you shortly."

"Okay." Is all she has time to say before she hears a buzzer and the door clicks open. She does as she was told and takes a seat.

"If you will follow me I will take you to your interview." Says the same lady as before. Brittany gets up and follows her through a dance hall and up some stairs. "Just knock on the door when you are ready to go in." The lady tells her then she walks away.

Brittany knocks on the door, "Enter." She opens the door and goes inside the office. "Have a seat if you would, and let me see your resume." She hands the guy her resume. As he looks at it she looks at him. "My niece and nephew are a handful, they have already gone through four sitters and you look like you would be the fifth one to give it a try. You have the job, will you require assistance in moving your things?"

"You mean I have the job?" She asks, he just looks at her and nods his head. "I can go home and pack my stuff up but I have no transportation to move anything right now."

"I am finished here for the day I can take you back to your place and help you pack up and move you myself. If that sounds good to you."

"Um......, okay." She says getting up.

Daniel's POV
When my Secretary told me that I had a girl on the phone asking about the sitting job I told her to have her bring a resume and I would grant her an interview. Never once did I expect it to be her. My lovely little soul mate. I acted like I was looking over her resume, but I was actually checking her out. After about five minutes of doing so I looked at her references. I see my sisters name there. I give her the job, and offer to help her move. On the way back to her place she sits there telling me where to turn. When we pull up in front of her building I am shocked to say the least. With the amount of the monthly payment my sister paid the company for a sitter I would think the sitter should be able to afford a better place to live.
