chapter ten: flower girl
A few months later you arrive at your destination in Kageyama's car. He steps out first as he's done ever since your first date and walks around the car to open the door for you. This time, you smile as he takes your hand and thank him.
"Your hand feels heavier today for some reason," he hums.
"That's strange, I wonder why," you smile back.
"I've got absolutely no clue at all."
You intertwine your fingers with his as you approach Himari and Hinata's front door. With a smile, Misaki opens it and gasps when she sees the two of you. She throws her arms around you and hugs you tight.
"I missed you, Y/N!" she giggles as she squeezes you with more strength than a kid her age should have.
"I picked you up from school yesterday," you laugh at her dramaticism.
"Exactly! It's been too long," she whines.
When she pulls away from you her eyes catch on your hand. Her eyebrows knit together as she beings to realize what's going on. "Wait a second..." she murmurs to herself. You and Kageyama smile at each other as she suddenly grabs your hand and holds it closer to her face.
"YOU'RE MARRIED?!" she screams louder than you've ever heard her. "I thought you said you didn't fall in love," she then teases with her free hand positioned on her hip.
Just then you hear something break within the house and in less than a minute Hinata and Himari are standing right behind their daughter at the door.
"I didn't think I'd fall in love either but here we are," you smile. "Tobio proposed last night at dinner."
Misaki is now jumping up and down in excitement screaming about how proud she is of Uncle Tobio.
"Come inside," Himari says, stumbling over her words as she's too shocked to use full sentences.
When you walk inside you sit down on the couch beside Kageyama. Hinata looks absolutely speechless as he stares at his best friend and Himari is still at a loss for words.
"Stop doing that," Kageyama finally cracks under the pressure. "It's creepy!"
"I'm sorry," Hinata apologizes as he wipes his eyes. "I'm just so proud of you."
Kageyama rolls his eyes. "I'm not going to ask you what we came here for if you act like this..."
Hinata and Himari sit up perfectly straight and silent, acting the most put together you've ever seen them in your entire life. Himari scoots a bit towards the edge of her seat and smiles politely as she clears her throat.
"What did the two of you come here to ask us?" he calmly inquires.
You and Kageyama exchange a look before admitting the true nature of your visit. "Well," you begin. "We are getting married and we'd like the two of you to be our best man and maid of honor," you smile.
They both jump up from their seats at the same time and tackle the two of you against the sofa with a big hug until both of you complain.
"Woah, woah, woah," Misaki interrupts with her arms crossed. "That's all What about me? Am I even invited?"
You grin at the adorable little girl. "There's a job Uncle Tobio has for you if you think you're up for it," you tease.
Misaki stands straight up with her hands at her sides and looks at Kageyama with a serious expression. "You can ask me anything, Uncle Tobio," she nods.
"Well alright then..." he begins. "Would you like to be our flower girl?"
Misaki squeals as she jumps into Kageyama's arms. "Yes, yes, yes!" she shrieks as she hugs the life out of him. However, this time he doesn't complain about the embrace.
"Oh you both must stay for a celebratory meal before you go," Himari then insists, to which you and Kageyama happily agree.
Then, after you say your goodbyes and leave, Kageyama once more opens the car door for you.
"We really do owe them," you smile as you take your seat and fiddle with the rock on your left hand. "I didn't think I'd ever get to this point in my life."
"Well too bad because you're stuck with me now," he teases.
"Maybe that's not such a terrible thing, I'm not sure yet," you giggle.
Kageyama kisses you on the cheek and walks around to the other side of the car. As you're left alone you open your phone and see that your ex has texted you from yet another new account. You groan as your fiancée steps into the car.
"What's going on?" he asks. "Upset to see me so soon?"
"No," you reply, ignoring his joke. "My ex just sent me a lovely photo of him and asked if I'm free this evening."
"You're welcome to go but that might be considered cheating, Y/N," he smiles. "Though I'd rather you spend the evening with me instead."
"I'd rather be with you any day of the week," you smile as you turn off your phone. "Ready to go home?"
"As you wish."
