Beautiful Lies

Chapter 9

The movie is so good. I enjoy it as much as that crazy blonde girl who whines everytime the hero gets into troubles. This is my first date with Kai and it's all ruined by Clara, the girl I will never regret if one day I end up pulling her hair out. Then a stone-faced guy that accepts everything Clara throws at him, Sehun. It is not my business that they go out together, but the thing is that they sit beside us in the cinema. And now, they are shamelessly joining us for dinner which is supposed to be a date for both of us.

Kai, like a gentleman he always is, absentmindedly offers them to join our dinner. If only Kai sees my 180 degrees eye-rolling, I bet that he won't even dare to say hi. While I'm keep my eyes on the phone, trying to avoid any unnecessary eye contacts from that two, Kai is politely having a conversation with both of them.

"So are you guys official now?" asks Clara.

Kai is too shy to answer the question, so that leaves me with no choice but to answer that. With Clara eyes glued me, looking straight to my soul like she's a demon who is demanding for a debt.

"If I go out with Sehun, will you assume us to be a couple too? If I'm going to hang out with every guy in the college, are you going to label me as a slut?"

You aren't the only one who can play the game.

"Sorry," says Clara "it must be a personal question."

"Nah... it's okay. Actually I feel sorry too, for letting you to struggle to answer my question. I should have known that you can't keep up to the pace I speak," I flip my hair and smile sweetly at Clara. Both of the guys chuckle while Clara's face turns sour, she pouts her lips and her infamous duck lips appear.

Our orders have arrived finally. Kai is digging into the food as soon as the plate is placed in front of him. Clara is busy stuffing food into Sehun's mouth. Sehun just chunks down every thing without saying even a word. Now I begin to realise that, Sehun never really says anything since the beginning of our so called "double date". I start to feel sorry for him.

Kai turns to me and smiles. There are some bits of his food at the corner of his mouth. He must be very hungry. I wipe them away with some tissues.

"Eat slowly, dummy" I say.

"Aww... you two look so sweet," that mischievous tone vibrates through my ear drums as to mock us. She seriously has a sense of perfect timing.

"Clara, you can stop now. Tell me, what's your problem?," I hate the game she's playing. I had played this for thousand times, I'm so familiar with the rules.

"What problem? I just said that you guys look sweet," the innocence look that she's giving brings fake to a whole new level.

I can't stay at the same place with this human being. I stand up too fast that the glass near my hands falls down to the ground and breaks into pieces. Still in shock, I naturally pick up the broken pieces. Sehun and Kai try to help me. When picking up the last few pieces, the glass slices through Sehun's fingertip and a fine line of blood oozes out. Clara, the drama queen, over reacts and is practically screaming for help. The waitresses and waiters around help Sehun to get up and bring him to the back of the restaurant.

Kai holds my hand tightly. Then only I realise that there's blood on my fingertips too. The pain comes few seconds later.

It is just a small cut. And the pain can't compare to what I have been through in the past. So the best option is to ignore it, it probaly will heal by tomorrow.
