Chapter 23

AUSTIN POV

The girl before me was the girl we had been looking for. Her caramel skin shone with the teal hue that was given off by her powers. Powers that mimicked mine. Powers that could very well mend the timeline. She was the one I needed to find. I didn't know why until the last vision. A vision that Sam could never learn about. She was not going to like it, but I needed her energy to summon her. 

"Teal."

The girl's blue eyes met mine. She pulled a braided coil behind her shoulder and nodded to me. 

"Austin. Sam."

My sister smiled. 

"You know us?"

She looked at the were next to me with curiosity. 

"I know a lot about the two of you, Woods. I have also been waiting for your brother's call. Which also means the wolves will be hearing shortly according to the timeline."

Sam's eyes widened in shock. 

"You manipulate time."

The girl nodded and I gestured for Sam to head back to the group. She hesitated for a second. I waited for her to grow distant before turning to the girl. I manipulated the air around us to make hearing hard for the others. She looked at me curiously.

"The girl does not know, does she?"

I looked back at my sister as she reached the bottom of the hill. I decided it was time for us to join the others at a much slower pace. 

"It shall remain that way or the timeline will be altered again."

The girl nodded. 

"Then you know the transfer between us will have to be quick when the time comes."

I gulped and kept steady as I walked. I looked over at the girl next to me. She was tall for a girl. Beautiful. A future that will hopefully keep the others alive.

"It shall be, I will still have full ability until that time, then it will transfer. By summoning, I already linked the powers. They are yours when it happens."

The girl nodded and her posture straightened. She was staring off into the woods. The sun was setting behind us and I knew what she was seeing. I was seeing it too. The glow of eyes. Lots of eyes. Animal eyes. I bought a purple orb to my hand and took off running to the group. We were far. I couldn't do anything but luckily we had some weres on our side and those were turned towards the trees just as the first wold came barrelling ours. A large black wolf followed by a dotted cat. A very quick cat. I brought a portal out and appeared in front of the group with a shield formed just as the weres reached us. They crashed into the purple glass with a yelp. I could sense the others around me. Teal was quick to reach my side. 

"Take my sister and half the group and head to the hill. There will be another group coming from that side."

I removed one of my hands and made a purple portal for them that would get them to the top of the hill. Teal grabbed my sister's hand and Joe was quick to follow. He grabbed his cousin and Hava and some of the recruits and jumped through the portal. Another crash came at the barrier making me zap the portal shut and concentrate on the walls. Adam came to my side with Nolan on the other side of me. 

"Austin you need to drop the barrier. We are ready."

I looked at the two boys. I nodded and the barrier dropped and the first was jumped at the closest. I heard a scream and watched as Rose was hit. Scarlett was quick to freeze the mutt but Rose was hurt. She had an Aurora at her feet but the bite mark on her arm was marked and I knew that she was going to die. I turned and watched the twins obliterate wold after the wolf. I brought purple energy around and shot it out. I watch a wolf disintegrate mid-air. It was leaping at Hayden who was controlling an army of watermen. The other Rouges were out. I kept shooting Lazer after lazer out. I was already tired then. More wolves came to replace the ones down, none were part of the main pack. They must be with the others on the hill. I took off running to the hill. I felt two paws hit my shoulders in the back and I fell forward I created a portal making us fall through, giving me time to flip to find the cat on top of me. I brought glowing hands to its chest and pulsed the power through the were. It started to glow with energy and vaporized. Blood licked my clothes and face. I gasped and scrambled to my feet. By now more weres joined. Surrounding me. Preventing me from getting to the hill. The rest had to be up there. I smiled at the pups. And looked over their head. The group was fairing well then before I could scream out I watched as a mut jumped up and bit into Dean's throat. The twins turned to the sound of tears and Adam released a wave of flame that lit the area. I reached out a hand to the fighting teens and watched the flames overtake the mutts around me. I didn't put a shield around me quick enough and found the flames rushing at me at the same time the mutts decided to jump. I closed my eyes and brought my hands down, pausing time. I walked around the leaping dogs, under the wave of flames to the two teens that were next to their brother's mutilated brother. I placed a hand on their shoulders before letting time resume. I opened a portal and pulled them through just as a rouge Aurora shot a silver spike at the two. I shot a purple light at the boy watching him die as I fell back into my portal. More Auroras joined the fight against us. 

"Ok, you two. Aim at me."

The two looked at me confused. 

"Aim at me. Now!"

They shot out at me and I put a shield up which deflected the blow sending another wave of flames entangled with electricity at the group. I brought my hands up and protected those on our side. Rose was reaching out amping power up but I could tell she was getting tired. I nodded in Hayden's direction was starting to struggle. 

"Help him."

I opened another portal and tackled Scarlett to the group as a wolf bit my ankle. I yelled out in pain and kicked the dog. It let out a yelp. I turned and shot an energy wave at it killing it. Scarlett looked at the bite on my ankle tears gathering in her eyes. She was in a seated position. Horror is clear on her features. She brought her hand up and shot an ice spike at an oncoming dog. 

"I am sorry."

I reached out a hand and pulled her up. 

"Later, get to your brother..."

I pointed to the forest where the enemy kept coming through.

"But..."

"...Through the trees, take Rose with you, I will protect you."

Rose came over and I nodded to her, she was tired and had multiple bit marks. Scarlett looked scared. She wasn't running though. 

"Go! Now! Please!"

Another scream echoed and I knew what that meant. It was close. I brought my hands up and made a barrier tunnel that went right through the forest. It would get them close to the packhouse but not quite there. I nodded and Scarlett mouthed I am sorry and took off, Rose closed. I could feel Rose trying to amplify my powers which I appreciated. I concentrated everything on the shield that was around the girls and me. I could feel every jar and hit the barrier but kept my focus on them. A wolf came hurdling into the shield right next to me and I jumped lightly but kept my energy focused. I knew my eyes and skin and wings were all glowing in a magnificent purple. I can hold this, then it will be time.
