Piper led Kit to her room by his hand. She had been so caught up in showing him the game that she had not realized they were holding hands. If she so much as glanced towards Kit she would have noticed his deep blush.
Piper released Kit’s hand, diving over the bed to pull out two boxes. Only when she had released the hand did she realize what she had been doing. A small redness spread across her cheeks.
Piper pulled the rest of herself onto the bed the boxes in hand. She motioned for Kit to sit before shoving a box into Kit’s hands starting to tear apart the one still in her hands.
Kit needed no instruction to open the box; he did it out of habit. The tape seemed to vanish without a sound as if being torn by an invisible knife. Piper and Cederic swore that Kit had retractable claws. They had never seen him use a knife.
Piper frequently ordered things on the internet; Most of them were quite questionable. They included such objects as a treasure map to a lost continent, a key to open the greatest treasure, and equipment necessary for the adventures she and the group undertook.
Although Piper seemed to always be spending money on worthless junk, she always seemed to have more on hand. Most of which she had earned herself. She had a strange ability at picking up the one thing worth money on their trips. Go to a mountain; find a three hundred dollar rock. Go to the ocean; find a bottle with a letter to a lover from a shipwrecked man. After tracking down the wife of the shipwrecked man they were given a monetary reward. Piper had tried to turn it down but the money was literally forced upon her by the wife.
Kit turned towards Piper, “What are these for anyway.”
“Open it first, ask later.”
Kit complied. Piper watched his reaction as he removed the metal helmet from within. He had a perplexed expression on his face, “I know I almost got hit by a car, but I really don’t need a helmet.” He said jokingly. He turned the metal helmet upside down scanning it, a simple metallic helmet with a power chord. That’s odd, Kit thought.
Piper smiled handing him a small book, with a few notes on it. “This is your username and Password.”
“…For what?” Kit asked.
“A virtual reality game using these helmets,” Piper said, proudly puffing her chest out.
“I didn’t think you were the type to get scammed.” Kit shrugged his shoulders, placing the helmet to the side. Piper plugged her helmet into the wall, “I didn’t get scammed. You and Cederic don’t trust me enough.”
Kit smiled, “It’s not that we don’t trust you. It’s just seems like an obvious scam. Virtual reality would be a pretty big thing if it was real. Most development on it is only at the ‘Might be possible, but very unlikely’ stage.”
Piper got up from the bed, walking over to the door. The game opens at five, so we will have to wait for a bit. We can find out if it was a scam then.”
Kit took another glance around the room, “What do you want to do in the mean time?”
As he waited for the answer, Kit played with the earring on his left ear. It was pierced at the upper cartilage of the ear. The piercing had been forced on him by Piper, and the placement was also not his choice.
It wasn’t like he was alone in this regard. Both Piper and Cederic had the same piercing and both fiddled with it occasionally, although for some reason only Piper and Kit had it in a matching ear. Cederic had disregarded Piper’s order and placed it on his right ear. Piper strangely, did not object.
Silence slowly bloomed between them. “I didn’t think that far,” Piper mumbled.
They both started to blush.
